Tick Tock

Cold.

That was all Ayata could feel.

She looked around and found everything to be white. There were thin, tall structures around her as well, but they were all blurred out. She had no idea where she was.

She began to walk forward and soon came across a giant tree. She saw that the only non-blurry thing was a strange symbol carved into it. There were two curved lines at the side, with dots on the inside of them. In the middle was a very squiggly line, like dripping paint. She pulled open the door and stepped inside where she began to fall into nothingness.

Blurry images flashed around her as she fell. There was a bird, some blue papers, and what seemed to be a photograph.

Ayata finally stopped falling, but noticed that she was suspended in midair. She looked ahead and saw a strange creature with glowing red dots staring right back at her. She felt a coldness run through her. Yet surprisingly, it felt warm. Familiar, almost.

She saw a beam project from her and onto the creature before everything started to grow black.

Ayata woke with a start.

She sat there in silence, hearing nothing but her heavy panting.

What...what was that? And why can't I remember it?

Try as she might, the girl could not recall the strange dream she just had. It was gone like footprints on a beach.

She looked around the room and saw the faint streaks of sunlight coming through the window. She didn't bother changing since she only had one outfit and went outside.

It's been a couple days since the Ouroboros incident. A couple days since Lloyd was captured. And although it's only been a few days, to Ayata it felt like it all happened yesterday.

Ayata began to aimlessly wander the deck when she heard a commotion. She looked up to see Kai, Jay, and Cole all huddled together, gawking about something.

She heard Kai yell as she got closer, " He just broke his own record! The guy's inhuman!"

As the young girl approached, all eyes turned to her.

"Hey, Ayata!" Cole greeted. "How are you feeling?"

Said girl merely shrugged as she walked to the edge.

"What's going on?"

"We're watching to see how long Zane can stay underwater," Jay answered. "It's been over 10 minutes!"

Ayata peered into the waters below.

"You guys sure he's not, you know--drowning?"

The teens looked at each other with wide eyes.

"I got this," Cole said as he started to take off his top gi until Ayata stopped him.

"I said if you're sure."

That's when the ice ninja popped his head out of the water at the last second, taking in greedy gulps of air.

"Speak of the devil." The earth ninja nudged Ayata.

"Did I beat the record?"

"You destroyed it!" responded Kai.

They helped Zane aboard and began to talk about everything they've accomplished, and if they've reached their full potential yet.
