The Green Ninja

I can't sleep. Again.

I let out a defeated sigh and sat up. I didn't need to see outside a window to know that it was nearly sunrise.

I let my tired eyes scan the room--and that's when I saw something that jogged my memories.

I shuffled closer to the wall and stared at the colorful figures etched onto it. I delicately traced my hands over them, a small, yet sad smile forming as I thought of the memory.

I held one of the so-called 'comic books' in my hand and tried to understand it. Lloyd had given it to me as a means of entertainment as we waited for the ninja to come back from a small mission. I don't know why we were waiting, though.

Speaking of him....

Lloyd was holding a yellow box in one hand as he faced a wall. He seemed really focused on what he was doing.

Curious, I crawled over next to him and saw that he was etching colorful figures into the wall.

"What are you doing?"

"Drawing," he stated, his movements not halting.

"Drawing?"  I repeated, dragging out the word in confusion.

He rose a brow. "You've never heard of drawing either, huh?"

I shook my head.

He pondered for a moment. "Well...drawing is...drawing."

"Well that was helpful."

"Hey! It's easier to show than explain!"

"Then show me."

"Okay."

He scooted over and patted the space next to him. Once I took my place, he pointed to his "drawing".

"So drawing is making colorful figures?"

"Well kinda."

I observed his drawing: there was a red figure on one side, along with a blue, white, and black one. On the other was a purple figure that, instead of looking like a stick with a circle for a head and tiny lines for arms and feet, wound about in an 'S' shape. It wasn't hard to see thatI was confused.

"What's this about."

The childlike and mischievous glint in Lloyd's eyes grew as he explained. "I'm drawing what my revenge on Pythor is gonna be like!"

Oooh, that makes sense.

A white crayon entered my line of sight and I looked over to see light green eyes staring at me.

"Wanna try?"

I shrugged. "Sure."

I watched as he picked up a green crayon and drew, what I presumed to be, himself into his creation. "You can draw yours next to mine if you want."

I did as told, starting with a small white circle, then a line, then the other small lines.

"Hey, not bad," Lloyd complimented, "Your lines are really neat! Are you sure you haven't drawn before?"

"I'm sure."

He gave a small chuckle. "Of course you are."

"So what does this mean for us?"

"H-Huh?"

"The drawing. What does it mean for us, exactly?"

O-Oh, that."
