I watched as Jay threw some very smug looks in the mirror as the others snickered. They were trying to help Jay with impressing Nya in her class today, maybe even ask her on a date.
Kai wasn't looking so happy though. I guess he didn't like the idea of anyone dating his little sister yet.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want. You won't be laughing when this works!" Jay said as he continued to admire himself. "Wow, I didn't even know my hair could do this! So much volume. Cole, where'd you learn to do this?"
The earth ninja looked up from wiping off a comb and other hair products.
"Hey, when you practically spend your life in show biz, you learn a thing or two from being backstage all the time."
"Hey Ayata, you're a girl. What do you think?" Jay asked. I shot him a glare.
"Excuse me?"
He immediately shrank back and gulped nervously. "I mean, uh, what's your opinion. Heheh."
I thought for a moment. "Well, first of all don't say 'you're a girl' to a girl." Jay and Cole nodded in agreement, Zane raised a brow, and Kai nodded slowly, as if saying 'lesson learned.'
"And second: I have no idea. I'm completely new to this whole 'impressing' thing. But, it does seem to be missing something."
"I got this," Kai said suddenly as he pulled out a bottle and sprayed something onto Jay. He coughed in response. The fire ninja held up the bottle, label and all, like he was advertising it.
"It's men's cologne," he explained. "Trust me, you can't you wrong with this."
Jay seemed skeptical about this, but he grabbed the bottle and began to cover every square inch of himself. We all began to cough as the smell of lavender and Spring burned our nostrils, throats, and eyes. Even Forest was uncomfortable as he flew out the open window into fresh air.
"I thought you were trying to impress her! Not nose-blind her!" Cole coughed.
Jay shrugged smugly and tossed the bottle back to Kai before strutting out the door.
We watched his retreating form and I decided to speak when he was out of view.
"That wasn't cologne you gave him, was it?"
Kai's eyes widened as he looked at me. "How'd you know?"
"I saw you pull a switcheroo. That's the oldest trick in the book. Plus--" I pointed to his back pocket,"--the perfume bottle is sticking out of your pocket."
Cole began to cackle wildly and Kai's laughter only expanded. I shook my head at their antics. Today should be interesting.

Nya had insisted that there be a class to learn about the Serpentine and their tactics and, to the ninja's dismay, their Sensei had agreed. Now here we are. This was really important to Nya, since it was one of the only times she felt like an important asset to the group.
But she was the Samurai, so I didn't get why this was the only time she felt important. I also didn't get why she had to keep it a secret. I wonder if Wu knew of her secret identity. Probably.
"The venom in the fangs of the Fangpyre can genetically mutate human cells into reptilian, causing them to...."
Yeah, truthfully no one was paying attention anymore.
Jay was ogling Nya, Zane was admiring Forest, Kai was trying not to fall asleep, Cole was drawing some pretty good artwork, and I only payed attention to half of what she was saying. I've learned to pick up only the important information and drop out all the rest in my life.
