John,
Long Island kindness and wine. That is how I would describe our first few months together. It is an odd string of words, but I feel like it fits, for us, for you, certainly for me.
Why Long Island kindness? I'm sure you're wondering. Why not just regular kindness? What does a small island somewhere within the Burmuda triangle that I've never been to have to do with you? Well, nothing really. There is not connection to the place at all. John your kindness is like Long Island as it seems to be never ending. Day after day you stay loyal, you defend me when no one else will, and you love me like no one else ever has.
You are Long Island kindness.
Why wine? You're asking now. We have had plenty of outings together and have drunk a range of beverages between us. Why wine? It's neither of our favourites. Well the reasoning behind this one is a touch more embarrassing. Do you remember that night? Only a week since you had moved in, the night that you kissed me up against the wall outside the pub. Do you remember that night? I do. You were wearing a grey jumper, nylon, my hands gripped onto it for dear life. Your hair was soft, shorter than you have it now, I like it longer, less military more John Watson, more you. You hadn't shaved that night, the slight trace of stubble rubbing against my neck as you kissed me there. And your lips, they were soft and slow, and desperate and wanting, they were patient and kind and they tasted like wine.
You tasted like wine.
Wine was never my favourite drink, I've never been much into drinking, but after that night I can't get enough of it.
John you are Long Island kindness and wine, and I, well I and the opposite. (Metaphorically speaking of course, the actual opposite of Long Island kindness and wine is Perth meanness and grape juice, which I am not, although I do believe a have found a very catchy title for the new piece I am composing). My point, John, is that you are good, and kind, and great in every way I am incapable of being.
And I love you,
Sherlock Holmes.
