Chorong
His gaze towards me doesn't mean anything at all, to be honest. He was just staring and then smiled. I smiled back."How have you been, sir?" Mark asked. Wait, I am a sir? I realized that he wasn't looking at me, but he was at the policeman.
I felt my cheeks heat up from embarrassment."I've just exchange shift with Bobby, Mr. Tuan. And, Ms. Park needed someone to keep on eye on her." He said, then mark's eyes landed on me, but he didn't say a single thing.
Mark nodded."Thanks." He told to the guy and went for the door to leave. I unconsciously said his name, causing him to turn around."Yes, Ms. Park?"
"I..." I was looking at him and made me think about how he really changed even his tone."...just wanted to say hello."
Mark nodded."I hope you'll get well soon, Ms." He said, looking at me with his hands in his pockets. I nodded."I will leave you with your mother, then."
He closed the door in the most careful way he could. I sighed,"Sorry for keeping you up, officer." I said, bowing my head to the policeman.
"It's fine, Ms. Park. I'll wait for you outside." He said, bowing to me as well before going out.
My mind thought of mom when the door closed, I turned around to see her still sleeping."Hey mom." I whispered."This is my fault, I shouldn't have been careless.."
I grabbed a chair to sit on and then sat as I watched my mom sleep. A lot of things went through my mind while looking at her.
My hand grabbed her's, and placed her hand on my cheek."You know, I actually had a nice time living alone. It felt nice to be independent." I said.
Why am I even telling her this? It's not like she'll answer me right now. I stayed for a while before standing up and kissing her forehead."I'll see you tomorrow, mom." I whispered.
I walked towards the door and turned the door knob. The policeman was standing still with a coffee in his hand."You are done, ma'am?" He asked me.
I nodded."Yeah, thank you for coming with me officer." I bowed my head as we walked on the hallway."Where did you get the coffee, by the way?" I asked, glancing at him.
"Near the nurse's station." He replied.
-
My eyes squinted as the light coming from the window hit me. I groaned as I involuntarily moved my arm."Good morning, ma'am." The nurse said as she was ready to leave as well.
I glanced at my side to see a bouquet of flowers on my table. The nurse and I looked at each other."Oh, a man placed it there. Must be your boyfriend." She said, then left the room.
Did Mark gave me those flowers? I unconsciously smiled at it then I heard someone yawning."Who gave you those?" Chanyeol asked me putting his hands up high.
I shrugged,"I don't know who." I said as I saw the tray of food on the table but I acted like I didn't saw it."Can you get a vase for the flowers?" I asked him.
Chanyeol shrugged."Sure." He said before standing up and went to the door."I'll wash up at home and then get a vase. Wait for me." He turned the knob and closed the door behind him.
I sighed and travelled my hand on the table beside me. As soon as I grabbed the remote, I opened the television and watched the news as always."Mark Tuan, CEO of Tuan Corps. and Lim Jane is officially set the wedding date despite on and off relationship. "
This is why I shouldn't open the television ever again. I bit my lip and then changed the channel. But, what did the news mean with the on and off relationship?
My eyes wandered around the table but my phone wasn't there. I checked around the room and found it in the corner, charging. Should I ask Naeun or Hayoung about it?
I pushed the sheet away and hopped off the hospital bed. I walked towards my phone and then crouched to grab it."I'll ask Hayoung, first." I mumbled as I dialed her number.
I heard it ring as I placed my phone on my ear. She answered."Hello, Chorong? How are you?" Hayoung asked me with a worried tone.
"I am okay, but it still hurts a bit." I replied.
"Then, why did you call?"
"Well, it's about..."
"Mark?" She finally asked me.
I just laughed, which made her laugh as well."I knew you were going to ask about it, soon. But, I think it would be better if you ask Mark personally." She said.
"I don't know where Mar-"As soon as I heard the door open, I quickly thought of a name."-Mary is!" I shouted and turned around to see Naeun enter the room.
Naeun was staring at me,"What are you doing in the corner?" She asked as she walked towards me."Shouldn't you be lying down?"
I nodded."I was actually about go amd lie down. Why did you come, by the way?" I asked her as I sat on my bed. Then, realized that Hayoung was still on the line.
"Who are you talking to?" Naeun asked me.
"Hayoung." I replied, then placed the phone on my ear again."Hayoung, are you still there?" I asked her.
It wasn't long when I heard her coughing."Hey, can you give Naeun your phone for a while? I want to talk to her." She told me.
I nodded, and then lend my phone to Naeun whose eyes widened when she accepted it."Hello?" I heard her say."Yeah, this is Naeun. What do you need?"
I couldn't hear a thing about what they were talking about. I lie down on my bed and pulled my blanket to cover my body."Okay, I'll tell Chorong." Naeun said to the phone.
"What is it?" I asked her.
Naeun put my phone on the table beside me."Just stay in your bed. I'll go out and come back as soon as I can." She said before leaving the room.
What was it that made her rush out? I looked at the ceiling and then sighed. "This is depressing." I said to myself, and then let my eyes close.
I heard the door open which caused me to open my eyes. I was surprised to see Mark closing the door. I closed my eyes before he could spot me."You are sleeping, huh?" Mark asked.
My hand twitched as I felt his hand on my cheek."These flowers looks nice." I heard him talk to himself."Chorong hadn't ate lunch, yet? What are they doing?"
He must've saw the tray on the couch. I don't know why but I am having a difficulty on breathing. His face must be really close since I could feel his breath on my face.
I wanted to try and peek at what he is doing. I slowly opened one eye to see what is happening."Oh my gosh!" I shouted as I saw Mark's face three inches away from me.
