Chorong
I caressed my thumb on the rim of the can soda I am holding as I carefully sat on the sand."Do you want to stay with me?" I asked at the dog lying beside me.
This dog followed me from the tteokbokki shop that I went and he seems to be keeping me company. I placed the soda in my mouth and took a sip.
"I knew that I'll probably regret drinking alcohol when I am here alone, so I got this." I said to the dog while holding it out. Why am I even talking to a dog?
I patted him on his head and stabbed a piece of rice cake. I noticed the dog, looking at me as I eat."Do you want one?" I asked."I don't even know if you could eat this."
My phone started ringing but I didn't want to know who it is.It was starting to irritate me as it continued. Taehyung is calling, again. I placed it on my ear."Why did you call?" I asked.
"Just because."
"I know, you want me to tell you." I said as I sighed. He was silent because I was right but how can I explain it? I thought about the fact that I like him but as a good friend."Let's not talk about it."
"I tried asking Mark but he said to ask you." He said. Mark's face suddenly came into my mind as I heard his name.
"I am surprised, you actually approached Mark." I said, chuckling. Taehyung is younger than me and I can't stop treating him like a kid sometimes.
He didn't answer quickly."You made it sound like I hate him. Take care of yourself." Taehyung replied then suddenly hanged up on me without saying goodbye.
I sighed and then started cleaning up. I didn't even realized that the dog was gone. I closed the tent before lying down to sleep. Should I leave the light on? It's scary with it off.
While I am lying, all I hear are the waves. This is not what I expected at night. Call me coward but I totally didn't think this through.
I was about to slowly drift off to sleep when I heard a footsteps outside. I wanted to open the lights but they would probably see it.
"There is nothing there." I reminded myself as I try to sleep once more but the footsteps kept on going. I couldn't take it and grabbed my phone.
I kept the brightness down then started looking for a number to dial. Right, I already blocked his number. I dialed Taehyung's , my parent's, and my brother's but no one is awake.
What are you thinking, Chorong? It's already 1. I didn't have a choice but to unblock his number and call him. Why am I even lying to myself? I always wanted to call him.
"Please answer." I mumbled as I placed it on my ear, but no one is answering. Light was coming from the outside of the tent. I screamed when I saw a silhouette in front.
"Excuse me, but you can't stay here." I heard an old man's voice then felt relieved that it was actually the police who were patrolling this area.
I opened the tent to find an old guy in his uniform, holding his flashlight."I am so sorry. I'll go now." I apologized.
"Let me help you." He offered as he started taking the bags off inside. I was grateful to the police that he actually wanted to help even though I tried to refuse."It's dangerous here at night. You shouldn't do this, again. A lady like you can't be alone."
The man escorted me back to where my apartment is, too. I bowed at him and thanked him for everything. I can finally sleep at peace.
