A.N:        I feel that I left out many things in the last chapter that I should have put in. I didn't even put in an AN but that is already done now so I'm not going back and unpublishing or editing a past chapter.

Anyway, one of the most important things that I wanted to put in was to advise you guys to go back and reread the previous chapters since I haven't updated in like, 6 months. If you have a pretty good memory and actually remember that, I would only advise you to go back and read chapter 4. There were some changes in that chapter that will be significant later on in the story.

Right now, I can't remember all the other things that I wanted to say and I'll probably remember the second I publish this chapter.

Chapter 8

The Past Part 2

The First Dark War - 418 years ago

The healers worked on the bodies of the injured as Shadow watched. The pain in his eyes was at it's highest peak. Why did Order have to do this? Why? Couldn't they just sort this out without any war? Was that too hard? Of course it was! They were deities! Deities had so much arrogance and pride that it suppressed their sense of reason.

They didn't care that their actions caused millions of people to die, just that their ego was still the size of a planet. The gods had been this way. The titans, giants, and all powerful deities were this way. Their needs came before the lives of millions. And he had thought that Order had been different. As if!

Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon had killed many lives just by having that kindergartner fight over who stole the Master Lightning Bolt. Their anger killed many human beings through natural disasters. And now, Order's anger was doing the same.

Why did all deities have to have some sort of power that could destroy quickly? Why! The world would've been much better without all those stupid powerful deities. At least the mortals couldn't kill millions when they were angry in a few seconds.

You'd think that since deities were so old, they'd be wise. But no. They had the minds of preschoolers! Power had gotten into their minds and though it may not seem like it, just one thing can make them lose all rational sense. It had happened with Order.

He knew that Order was powerful. Order knew that he was powerful. However, he never let that power control his actions. Until now, of course. But that just showed how anyone could fall prey under the force of power. Power can make you arrogant and selfish.

Shadow swore to himself that he would never let his power control his decisions like it had down with Order. He would never start a war because he was upset and wanted full control. He'd never want full control. He loved his shadows. Even if was in the coverage of many universal newspapers about being powerful and being the son of Chaos, he was still in the shadows. He was never really in the limelight. And if he was, he disregarded the limelight completely and subtlety made his way out of it.

"Aren't you the son of Chaos?"

Shadow snapped out of thoughts and turned around to face the boy that had asked the same question he had heard over a billion times.

"I am," he nodded. He didn't say anything further than that.

"I heard that you were really close with Lord Order too. He actually trained you himself! Of course, now he's evil and all that, but that's still," the boy said.

He was so energetic and happy even in a time like this. Shadow found odd that someone could be this... ecstatic during what is said to be the worst war in history. Wasn't he like this before he was betrayed? Yes, he was. And he was still betrayed. Wow, he could really ruin a mood.
