Just one month after Elvis stepped in front of a movie camera, filming for love me tender was largely complete.

Before its release, however, studio executives had to deal with the difficult issue of the finale-clints death.

New York city's paramount theater was the venue for the films opening night, on November 15, 1956, and the movie was released nationally a few days later.

It was a massive success. The EP went on sale soon after the movie opened and sold over half a million copies. By the year end, the single had sold five times that number.
