'One of the reasons Elvis didn't like in the field or on Maneuver while in Germany, was because he had a big fear of snakes. I think he always thought he'd jump into a foxhole and one would be waiting on him.
'Course, the strange thing about that is that he had a lot of books about snakes. He was fascinated by them. And he used to go snake hunting. He liked killing them with a shotgun.
Also, snakes that happened to venture onto Graceland had a rough time. Elvis once started blazing away with a rifle at a tree after a snake was seen slithering up the trunk.'
