**Liam's POV**
I watch in worry as Bella leads the girl inside and then I notice that Anya and Niall aren't here,then I see the bedroom light on I figure they must just want to be alone.
"Are you okay love?" I ask and the girl looks at me, I can tell she registers that I'm Liam Payne but she's too upset to care.
"It's okay Alice,wait here I'll get you a cup of hot chocolate." She walks into the kitchen and I follow.
"Bella,who's that?" I ask as she gets a cup and boils the water.
"My Flatmate Alice,something must be really bad for her to fly over here because she hates planes and will only go on them when she is forced or absolutely has to." I nod,still concerned.
"Do you know what's wrong though?" Bella sighs.
"No I'm gonna get her comfortable and a but more settled before I ask." I nod and offer to help Bella but she tells me she can handle it.
"Here you go Ally." Bella hands the steaming cup of hot chocolate to the girl.
"Is there anything else I can get you?" Alice shakes her head and Bella sits down between me and Alice on the couch.
"Um do you wanna talk about it?" Bella asks cautiously and I can tell Bella's suprised when Alice nods.
"I needed to tell you in person,just brace yourself ok?" Bella frowns but nods.
"Yeah." Alice takes a breath and then speaks shakily.
"Ashton um had cancer,he wouldn't tell anyone except Mikey,Calum and Luke-" my eyes widen.
"Wait you don't mean Ashton irwin?" Alice nods.
"Yeah oh that's right you knew them." I nod and I look to Bella.
"How'd you know him?" Bella looks at the ground with tears in her eyes.
"He's my ex boyfriend." I raise my eyebrows.
"Oh wow I'm so sorry Bella." Bella shakes her head.
"That's not all though is it Alice,you wouldn't fly over just to tell me that." Bella looks at Alice and she nods.
"He um was given a month to live last week, but he passed away three days ago." I watch the expression in Bella's face as she gasps for air between sobs.
"Oh my god what about Calum?" I ask and Alice frowns.
"What about him?" I realise they must not know.
"Nothing never mind." I can tell Alice doesn't believe me and Bella shakes her head.
"Liam,tell me." I bite my lip nervously before giving in.
"He had a rough childhood and um most people hated him because he was the guy you don't want your kids hanging around,he was living with Ashton and Calum would beat people up if they said something that hit a nerve,like about his family. I saw him one day on the streets and he looked lost so I asked if he was okay and stuff and he went to punch me but I grabbed his hand to stop him and I saw in his eyes that he was just a 15yr old kid who was scared and lonely so I took him back to Ashton's house and I helped him and he turned into a better person. Ashton was his first true friend and he helped him so Calum won't be coping well at all." Bella is still crying and Alice starts crying.
"Oh my god we-I have to do something!" Bella says,distressed.
"No Bella,your on a school trip you can't just disappear,I'm gonna fly over first thing in the morning and stay with the boys for a bit." Bella shakes her head.
"Your as much a part of this school trip as I am,I can't have my pen pal go missing." I sigh,there's no winning with this girl.
"So now I'm just a pen pal?" Bella smiles a little bit.
"Fine then,I can't have my boyfriend go missing." She puts extra emphasis on the boyfriend and I nod.
"Alright then I guess we'll both have to go."
