Chapter 04

♾ Jughead ♾

When Betty woke up, I was still awake. I looked down at her with a smile.

"Hey..." she said with a yawn.

"You're awake.." I deadpanned

"Did you sleep at least a little bit, Jug?" she asked worried and I shook my head. Honestly, with the pain it was impossible to have a good sleep.

"Not really..." she leaned her head on my shoulder. We stayed quiet for a while again. I rubbed my thumb over her hand, while they were still intertwined.

Though then my phone rang. I flinched at the sudden loud noise, even though it wasn't really that loud. Betty looked worried at me and then reached over me to grab my phone. It was Toni. I swallowed and then accepted the call.

"Toni? Why are you calling?"

"I just wanted to ask how you are"

"Uhm, still at the hospital. How is Fangs and have you heard anything from Sweat Pea?" I asked and she sighed.

"You haven't heard?"

"Heard what exactly?" I asked confused.

"That Sweat Pea.... we haven't found... we haven't found him yet. Whatever you and Fangs tried was too late or didn't work..." my breath stopped. No... no no no, it can't be. We weren't too late. That can't be possible

"What? Are you serious?"

"Yeah.... Fangs didn't get many wounds and you? How are you?" Toni asked.

"Well, I'm still at the hospital. Back to Sweat Pea. What happened?"

"Fangs... he told us that he had to watch how they-"

"How they what?"

"Well, if you would let me finish, I could tell you" she sighed "Jughead, Sweat Pea didn't make it..." I swallowed, looking down.

"Juggy, what is going on?" Betty asked worried.

"I'll explain soon, okay?" Betty nodded and I focused on the call again "Can we like, talk about that later...? I just... I need some time right now"

"What about the Serpents?"

"Oh as you could maybe notice, I do not care about that right now. I could actually care more about anything else but the Serpents" she scoffed.

"What would your dad say about this, huh?? Does he even know that you joined us?" Toni said, I could tell that she smirked. You've got to be kidding me.

"You wouldn't dare tell him"

"Oh I wouldn't? Watch me"

"Toni, I swear. If you tell him anything about the Serpents then-" I got cut off.

"Then what? You can't do anything, Jughead. Your dad should know anyways, you know? I mean, it's still his gang. That we've kept you in the Serpents without him knowing was a stupid plan anyways. He should know. I mean, especially after you've went behind the rules, you know? That thing with Penny-"
