Firstly,I can't believe that I was invited to a party.

Secondly, I still can't believe I was invited to one.

Thirdly, I really cannot believe I was invited to a party. Invited huh?

Jennifer's party..Well.. I wouldn't say she's as popular as Tracy or Erika and Elizabeth.

But she was liked by everyone. So to get invited to her party is like almost impossible.

Yet..I probably know the reason why she invited me.

But still..it wasn't a bad reason. So I don't really mind if she just invited me just to get close to Travis.

I looked up to the clock. Ugh. There was still detention after class ends.

I turned to look at Travis. And again..he was listening attentively to the teacher.

Don't get me wrong. I liked school and I liked studying.

But I can't stand to listen and absorb what the teacher has just taught.

Especially Mr Anderson's class....

So for the next twenty minutes I silently sulked on my desk. And finally the bell rang.

I laid my head on the table.Time for detention.

"Hey."  A voice asked. A girl with long brown hair with hazel eyes approached me.

I looked up to her. This is rather shocking.

"You alright?" She asked.

I sat up straight. "Yeah..yeah. I am..Thank you..er.."

"That's good. I'm Rachel. I sit next to you but we don't talk alot do we? I just noticed you were sulking during the entire class." She smiled.

I smiled back at her," Ha.. yeah. I do that alot. But thank you, Rachel. I'm Geraldine."

"I know. Well..in this school..things seemed to be different. It's all about the short hair problem isn't it?" She asked innocently.

I nodded."Looks like it.."

She started giggling," Well I'll see you around, Geraldine!"

I shot her a smile."Sure..Sure."

She walked out of the classroom. While I was left in a daze. People are actually talking to me.

I couldn't express how happy I am. It must be Erika and Elizabeth. It was always because of them.

"Wow. It's like forever since you smiled like this." Travis walked over to me.

"Yeahh...it's like...I can't express it. People are actually talking to me. It's all thanks to Erika and the rest. And also..to you.." I smiled.

Travis kept silent as he sat on the table."You know..I don't like it when you say that. It makes me.. angry."

I was shocked. What did he mean by that? I stood up."Travis..what are you saying?"

Travis turned to looked at me."You keep saying this is all thanks to Erika, Elizabeth..me.. but you're wrong."

"Wrong? How wrong can I be? They did befriended me before anyone else did. You befriended me. What else is there to say? You guys changed me!"

Travis sighed. He got off the table and stood before me."Geraldine..You don't understand do you? Yes. We did befriended you. But we merely opened the door for you to gain confidence to face people in this school. You changed yourself. No one can do that except you."

I was lost for words. I couldn't find the words to say.

For the entire time I felt indebted to Erika,Elizabeth and Travis.

I slowly looked up to Travis. He never looked this serious before.

"Sorry." He whispered. He looked away."I'm being too harsh am I? I didn't want to pressure you.."

"Travis..." I said softly.

"But...it pains me..to see you putting yourself so low." Travis continued.

My eyes widened. Travis cared so much for me. I put my hands on his face."Alright..I know..I know..thank you.."

He looked at me. And for a moment I thought... just a moment... I actually felt like...it's crazy but..I felt sparks fly.

"Ahem." A voice boomed.

We turned around. Only to see Mr Anderson standing at the doorway.

So this detention was pretty much a session where we were thrown stares and lectures by Mr Anderson.

And finally. It was over.

*************

"Geraldine. Why don't you head back first? I'll pick you up later. We could walk to Jennifer's house." Travis smiled.

"Okays. See you. At seven." I waved.

I walked the usual route home. It feels kind of lonely without Travis.

What am I saying?

I don't feel that way about Travis. He was just..just a friend.

A friend yet more than one. I guess that's when the word 'best friend' stands in.

Emmanuel. The feelings I have for him are more than that. And it'll never change. At least it hasn't.

I don't even know why I feel this way towards him.

But I feel that he's not what he treats me like. The cold person that I think I saw is just an illusion.

I stopped in my tracks when I spotted a familiar looking lady.

That face. It was Emma.

"Hello Geraldine. Nice to see you here." She gave me a warm smile.

I gave a slight smile."Hello Emma."
