Chapter 22

Travis was laughing all the way. From my house to school. Even as we walked.

"Geraldine! You should have seen your face! Gosh..I never want to forget the look you had!" Travis laughed really hard.

I laughed with him but yet I was still embarrassed. I hit him playfully. "What did you expect me to do? A half naked guy just coming up to me like that? And just saying werid things? Of course. I was terrified. "

He continued laughing."Okay..okay.. you win. I'm sorry.." I smiled at him."That wasn't sincere at all!"

I started laughing too. I felt much better. It feels like the pain has gone away. For now.

We just managed to reach school in time. And of course..Travis was still laughing.

As I sat at my desk, I smiled.

I kept looking at Travis during class. He keeps smirking at me.

I could tell he was really amused by my reaction. I started laughing.

"Geraldine!" Mr Anderson called out.

Yikes.

"Yeah??" I stood up.

"What's so funny? Is there something so hilarious that you want to share with the class? Come on! Amuse me." He continued.

"No...I.." I was interrupted by laughter. Heads turned to Travis.

Travis was laughing really hard.Mr Anderson looked at Travis.

I could tell he wasn't pleased at all. Darn. I knew where this was going.

"Geraldine and Travis detention!" He called out.

I sat down and shot Travis a glare. He gave me a glare too. He was still holding back his laughter.

I smiled at him. Haha. At least he would accompany me during detention.

The bell rang and class ended. I quickly walked out of the classroom, pretending to ignore Travis.

Sure enough. He came running after me.

"Geraldine! Are you mad?"

I stared at him for awhile. And then..I burst into laughter. "Look at your face!"

He looked embarrassed." Very funny." But he laughed too.

"Geraldine! Travis!" A girl called out. She ran up to us.

"Yeah?" Travis smiled. She had golden locks and blue eyes.

"Could you guys come to my party? Tonight?" She asked.

I looked at Travis then at the girl. Party. Party. That reminded me of Tracy's party.

I was afraid. Somehow parties became a phobia after what happened and that.

"Sure! Text me the address! Thanks for the invite! Er..what's your name?" Travis smiled.

"It's Jennifer." She blushed. " Alright. I'll text you."

They exchanged their numbers. She was obviously nervous around him.

She ran off after that. I looked at Travis.

Giving him the what-was-that-for look.

He smiled at me,"At least I'm going to a party with you."

I rolled my eyes,"She's interested in you. I was just a sidekick."

Travis chuckled,"Now you know how popular I am?"

I hit him on the shoulder and walked away. It was true. Travis is popular.

We sat at a table and continued talking.

"Hey lovebirds!" Elizabeth called. They came over to our table.

"Hey." Travis greeted them. I gave them a smile. But that smile vanished when I saw him.

"So you guys going for the party? Jennifer's party tonight. " Erika asked.

"Yeah. We are." Travis replied. Erika and Elizabeth looked at each other.

"Wow. Travis. 'We'? That's so cute." Erika exclaimed.

Erika and Elizabeth quickly pulled me to a side. "You like him don't you?" I stayed silent. Erika clapped her hands,"I'll take that as a yes."

I smiled and pretended that question was never asked. "Erika. Elizabeth. Wanna hang out on Saturday? "

They looked shocked."Geraldine! Did you just ask us out?" I nodded. They hugged me. "Of course!"

I started laughing but after awhile I could feel the pain coming back a little by little.

I looked at Travis. He knew what I meant.

"Sorry Guys. I gotta bring Geradline somewhere. See you at the party! "

He took my hand and walked off. I smiled at Erika and Elizabeth as they waved to us.

My eyes flickered to Emmanuel. He was staring at me.

I quickly turned away.

We went up to the roof garden. "So what are you wearing?" Travis asked. It was obvious he was trying to get my mind off Emmanuel.

"Erm..Travis..I'm not sure. If I want to go..because.." I stopped there.

"Because?" Travis asked.

I told him. Everything that happened during Tracy's party.

"Oh.." That was his reaction. I bit my lip.

"But..now I'm here for you." He continued.

"Aren't I?"

I nodded. Yes. He was right. It was different now.
