5 Years Later On Halloween~

I sigh and remember today's my birthday. At least he beats me less. My father is currently at the store so I jump when I hear a knock from downstairs. I go downstairs and open the door to the see a very tall dude with tattoos and three lip rings.

I can barely hear him over the music playing so I turn it off and walk back over to him.

"What were you saying giant?" I said, forgetting I still have fresh cuts, old scars, and new bruises.

He stared at me intently. "I uh...we...my band and I just moved next door where our guitarist used to live with his parents and they told me to be neighborly and come over. Would like to meet them?" He asks as he gives me his jacket to wear since I need to cover my scars and bruises. I nod and walk over there with him.

"By the way, my name's Chris." He says and enters the house.

I was met with five other faces. Two of which I knew.

"Devin...?" I asked as I looked at him and Ricky.

He smiled and I hugged him tightly. He hugged back just as tight and I winced because I have new cuts.

He gave a puzzled look and I just looked down. Meanwhile, I felt Ricky's eyes glued on me.

Devin smiled sympathetically, thinking it was because of his beatings. I shrugged it off and looked at the tall guy.

"My name's Blade." I whispered to him. He smiled at me and nodded.

"Cool name." He said and looked at my eyes.

I nodded, then heard my dad's car pull up at our house. My eyes widened in terror.

"I...I...bye!" I yelled and ran towards the house, taking Chris's jacket off in the process, leaving it on the sidewalk.

As usual, I got beaten for my being in the house when he got home. It wasn't brutal like it had been years ago.

I kept in screams and moans of pain, knowing he'd hit harder. But today, he hit with slight hatred in his eyes. I had never seen hatred towards me in his eyes.

After he was done, he went to his room and I went to my windowsill bed, everywhere bruised and bloody.

I stared at the grey sky and sighed. Not the best of birthdays is it?

My eyes locked with his. Ricky's. He and his friends were shaking with anger. Devin looked extremely pissed off.

I gave a glare to all of them, not meaning to and closed the black curtain. I curl in a ball and cried until no more tears would fall, I even tried for an hour but all that came out were sobs.

I got up, cleaned myself up and went outside with a cupcake and a candle in the cupcake. I blew it out with a depressing sigh.

"Happy Birthday to me, best fucking birthday yet." My voice oozed with sarcasm.

I ate the cupcake and sighed as I watched the children of the neighborhood trick or treat, while I sat and smoked, not allowed anywhere out of the house anymore except school.

I let my thoughts get the best of me and I broke down again, but silently. I heard footsteps coming towards me and I stood up quickly, thinking it was my father trying to sneak attack me. But I was told different when I met the eyes I've longed to see for five years.

He was about to say something, but like always, my father interrupts with his drunken shouts. "Blade get your worthless ass back in here!"

Pure terror was on my face but it was soon washed away with the reality that I'll never be able to get out of this. I sighed and walked back into my house. It was then that I realized I didn't need the outside world. Or Ricky. Or Devin. Or their band. I just had my windowsill and blade.
