Bellamy's pov
The past couple of weeks Mabel and Echo have been becoming closer and closer. I've never seen a maternal side of Echo before. It's charming and sweet. Mabel had fallen asleep that night and Echo and I were laying in bed talking.
"She told me that she loved me Bellamy." She admitted to me.
"She's beautiful. She really does love you I think." I agree with Echo.
"You and Clarke did get one thing right. It was her. She holds the key to everything. She is wise and smart beyond her years. You've done so well raising her and Clarke would be proud." Echo's words about Clarke almost make me cry.
"I've never really heard you speak nice things about Clarke." I look at Echo.
"I know we never got along but I'm grateful to her for saving my life." Echo sighs.
"She was always selfless. It shows through that little one in the bed across from us." I point to Mabel.
"I'm sorry for not trusting you in the past. I'm sorry for killing your people. You trusted me and I betrayed you." Echo looks down.
"Hey." I touch her chin.
"We've been through this. That was in the past. You've changed, we've all changed. I've never seen you so invested and loving towards Mabel. Clarke isn't here. She needs a mother. I want you to be there for Mabel. I trust you Echo." I explain to her.
"Really?" She looks up at me.
I kiss Echo tenderly.
We break apart then fall asleep as well.I wake up the next morning and see Mabel in between Echo and myself. She must have crawled in with us during the night. She was sleeping soundly next to Echo. I roll over to face both of them and I see Echo's eyes slowly open.
"Hey." I whisper.
She looks beside her and sees Mabel asleep.
"Hey." She whispers to me. We both smile down at Mabel.
"She's so peaceful when she sleeps." Echo smiled down at her.
Her brown hair all over the pillow.
We both climb out of bed quietly to let Mabel sleep and we get ready for our day.
We decided to head out to the hall where the others would be. Echo and I sat down at the table and everyone looked at us oddly.
"Where's the other one?" Murphy speaks
"She's asleep." I tell Murphy.
"Jeez thats a first for her. Can't believe she's sleeping in." Murphy smirks.
"Anything new about the ground Raven?" I ask changing the subject.
"Same everyday, nothing." She sighs.
Everyone just sits there silently eating algae this morning. Harper finally washed up all the bowls and we all went about our own duties.
I, however was just staring out the window looking at a dry barren earth. Emori was trying to work on communications today so I spent the morning trying to work out how to contact someone from the bunker.
Suddenly I hear a cry. It didn't come from the radio. It got louder and louder then stopped. It was Mabel's cry. I told Emori to keep working on it and I went to find her. I walk hurriedly along the corridor and thats when I see them. Echo was hugging Mabel. Echo notices me and carries Mabel over to me.
"Daddy." She cries.
She holds her arms out and I hold her tightly. Her forehead touched my skin. I could feel that she was hot. I placed my palm on her head just to make sure.
"Your hot sweetie." I sigh
"I don't feel well." She cries.
Echo went to find a face cloth and I took her back to bed.
"Daddy." She continues to cry.
I hate seeing her cry especially when she is in pain.
"It's okay. I'm here." I soothe her.
"Here." Echo walks in with a wet face cloth.
She gently places it on Mabel's hot head.
"I'm cold." She spoke with her teeth chattering. She tries to pull the blanket up closer.
"Yeah but your so hot sweetie." I tell her.
"If you want the blanket on take some of your clothes off so you don't overheat." I explain to her.
She sits up and I take off her pyjama top leaving her singlet on. She lays back down and closes her eyes. Echo looks worried so I pull her aside.
"You okay?" I ask.
"I've never seen anything like this." She worries.
"She has a fever. We just have to cool her down." I explain.
"Daddy." I hear her call out. I sit back down next to her.
"Yes I'm here baby." I soothe her.
"I want Echo." She cried.
"Hey I'm right here." Echo leans down next to her holding her hand.
Mabel continues to cry then slowly her cries turn to sniffles as she settles. Echo had a tight hold on Mabel's hand. She began dozing off to sleep.
"I love you Mommy." She whispered and fell asleep.
Echo looked at me in shock. I was also dumbfounded by what she just said. She is delirious but did she really mean to call Echo 'Mommy.'
