Not What it Seems

Mabel's pov

The days dragged on and I knew something wasn't right. I guess it was a feeling. Mommy and Daddy have been acting weird and secretive. I keep getting babysat by Monty and Harper but I so wanted to find out what was going on. I was in the communications room with Monty and Harper drawing when I finally had the opportunity to escape. They were both looking at a monitor discussing something so I quietly stood up and gently opened the door. The only way I can find out what is going on is if I sneak into Octavia's room. It's where they have their important meetings. I walk swiftly down a corridor and make a right turn at the fighting pit. No one was guarding the door which meant Octavia probably wasn't in there. I approach the door and find it to be locked
"Damn it." I sigh to myself
I pace back and forth until I see an air vent. I kneel down and pull it off. I climb in and put the vent cover back on. I guess you can say climbing into vents are my specialty. I'm small so I can easily fit in. I crawl on my elbows until I see the end of the other vent into Octavia's room. I kick the vent cover out and I jump out and close it. I stood up and looked around. I could hear muffled voices outside of her room so I ran and hid underneath her bed.
"Octavia are you sure you want to do this?"
I hear a man ask her.
"Clarke and her nightblood child have run off and my brother tried to kill me. They are all enemies of wonkru. He will fight for his life in the fighting pits like all other enemies." She replies.
Her words run through my head. I have tears welling up in my eyes but I try my best to stay quiet.
"What about Mabel?" The man asks again
"Well her mother has left and her Dad is in the pit so I guess she's my responsibility. I'll train her to be a warrior." Octavia answers
I hear the door open and then close again. It was quiet in the room so I climb out from underneath the bed. I cry quietly, sniffling every now and then. Mommy has left me and my Daddy might die. I have to stop him and Octavia.
I could hear the cheering from the fighting pit. I didn't realize it was this soon. I scramble through the vent again and climb out. No one saw me, they were all fixated on my Daddy and the others in the pit. I walk around the fence looking for a way to get in. Everyone was yelling and cheering until Octavia spoke. I manage to see a small gap between two wonkru people. I could see the bottom of the fence was loose so I made my way quietly toward it. That's when the fight in the pit started. Cheers and shouts echoed the room. I kicked the bottom of the fence and knocked the metal clip loose. It fell onto the ground of the pit but no one saw or heard it. The gap was big enough to slide through. I could hear the metal of weapons clashing together. I had to stop it. I opened the gap and I dropped down into the pit and landed on my feet.
"Daddy stop." I yell running toward him.
