Song has nothing to do with the chapter, just thought you should know it 😁

Barry's POV

Unbelievably, class actually did eventually end. It felt like forever but I was finally free of the two feuding girls.

"Hey Barry!" Caitlin's voice was excited and it made me smile.

"Hey Caitlin."

She basically ignored me when she spoke again. "Ok, so I was wondering if you'd like to come over by my place for the science project?" Was that her way of asking me on a date? No, it couldn't be. Well this has actually never happened to me, so that explains why I'm so confused.

I decide not to read into it. "Okay, sounds like a plan. What time?"

"You can come over now." She quickly said and slightly punched my arm. When I first felt it I thought it was a kid bumping into me since we were standing right next to the doorway of science class. Class had just been dismissed a couple minutes ago.

"Yeah, my schedule is free." Not that I had to check it. Wow, I have really got to get out there more. "And what about Patty?"

She hesitated but replied soon. "Uh... she can come too." She clearly didn't like the idea, but I liked to think that three heads are better than two. I'd really have to come up for a way for that to rhyme. "Oh hey, I gotta take this. It's my friend."

Clearly things with her were weird. I'm like a detective when it comes to certain things. I pretend to not know what's going on and nod my head, letting her leave. She didn't go too very far though, just to a close locker.

A few seconds later, my blonde friend came over to me. "Oh hey Patty! Do you wanna come over to Caitlin's house for the project?"

"Yeah, of course. You know what they say, three heads are better than two." Her smile went away and was replaced by confusion at herself. "Actually, no one says that." She chuckled to herself.

She asked about the time, and I said she could just walk with us. She said she'd have to meet us later though, something to take care of. So it was just Caitlin and I walking to her house.

"This is a really nice neighborhood," I commented. It really was. Almost every house had at least half an acre of land, a neighboring tree fitted with a tire swing, and gates.

"Thanks. It's all thanks to my mother, not that'd I'd ever thank her."

This kind of hit a sensitive spot for me. By what Caitlin just said, her mom was still around. Unlike my mom who died about 6 years ago. It make me upset because she was irritated by her mom, but I really miss mine. What I wouldn't give to save her. If I could, I'd go back in time to save her.

I didn't want to make the situation awkward though. "Really? Why not? Do you guys not get along?"

"Are you ok?" She asked. Maybe I wasn't that good at concealing my emotions about the topic. "Something happen between you and yours?"

I think I should just tell her. I hadn't said it to many people, but Caitlin felt trustworthy. "Not really. Uhm... about 6 years ago she died."

"What?!" Disbelief was in every wave of her voice. "I had no idea. Barry, I'm so sorry!"

"It's ok. I mean, sure it hurts but it wasn't your fault. I'm not going to force you to talk about this. I'd like to hear more about you and your mother."

Caitlin didn't say another word after that. She stopped walking when we approached a blue and yellow house. "This is me."

I took in the appearance of it. It was big, nice, colorful. "Wow." I gasp. I hadn't even meant to.

She chuckled. "Well don't just stand there! Come inside Mr. Allen." She unlocked the door with her keys. "Mom! I'm home. And with a friend." She yelled. There was no response, so I'm guessing we were here by ourselves. "Oh well. Peace and quiet is peace and quiet." She shrugged.

"Are we going to your room?" I asked curiously. I wanted to see y'all what it looked like. How was Caitlin Snow's room decorated. What colors were the walls painted? Did she have any adorable stuffed animals— because I definitely don't, aha...

"Living room's fine. Our relationship isn't exactly at that base yet, is it?" She laughed lightly and walked over to a big room which I assumed was her living room.

"Your parents must be loaded..." I say in awe.

"Well, my mom. I didn't tell you before, but my dad is in jail. Not much of an income from there."

It was clear she tried to lighten the mood with all of her smiling, but I could tell it hit her hard. "What? Why?" Maybe I shouldn't have asked her. I think I did it because I wanted to see where it would lead. I wanted to see if Caitlin held the same trust for me as I did for her.

"He faked his own death."

That's definitely a first. Really hadn't heard that one before. "Oh." I simply said. Maybe I was being too insensitive. I wanted to take back the last minute of my life. It must have been really hard for her.

"But my mom in the other hand owns this huge science and technology research thing which affords this;" she spun slightly around, extending her arms and showing off her exquisite home.

I didn't expect Caitlin's mom to be an entrepreneur. "Really? I've never heard of any 'Snow' companies."

"Tannhauser Industries."

I widened my eyes. I love the research there! "Wow, but I never would've guessed it'd be your mom! Carla Tannhauser is your mom! Is Tannhauser her maiden name?"

Caitlin nodded. "Yeah, mom decided to take it after my father's great betrayal."

A silence between us followed that. Unlike being with Patty, we didn't gaze into each other's eyes, but the silence was still comfortable and not awkward at all. Caitlin is great to talk to. Really nice and knows how to handle the deep stuff.

Her doorbell rang- wow, even the doorbell ring was melodic. "oh! I texted Patty where you lived. That must be her." I was enjoying the time alone with Caitlin. I knew this was a project though, which is worth 40% of my overall grade for the quarter. I had to be able to focus, but having two vey pretty girls in my presence didn't help with that at all.

I try to put it in as many CW Flash references as possible 😉
