Caitlin's POV

I stand up to leave Ms. Wilson's office. I walked out the room putting on the angriest face I could, lip pouting and everything. I walk out with afterschool detention. Since detention ends at 5:00pm and I'd get home at around 5:20... long story short I'd have like 10-15 minutes to get ready for my date with Barry. This day is not going well even though it just

just started.

Patty walked out the door with the same punishment I have. Neither of us are too happy about it.

Sara and Laurel were almost going to walk past us when I stopped Sara. "Why did Laurel take you here?" I wondered why her sister brought her here instead of her own mother.

"I'll tell you at lunch," she said quickly, and then followed Laurel to Ms. Wilson's room.

"I have Mr. Cunningham," Patty told me. That's our history teacher.

"Really? I love Mr. Cunningham. I've got Mrs. Burgess," our new math teacher. She's not all that great at her job. I'm pretty sure she's just winging it because the stuff she is 'teaching' us is all review and recycled material we learned as sophomores. Anyways, that's a class I share with Barry. I'm not sure what conversations would happen but I've never had much trouble with talking.

The bell rang just as I got to Mrs. Burgess' door. She's a young woman with ginger hair that's in short loose curls. I greet her with a wave before taking my seat in the back of class. Like Ms. Cunningham, I'm not good at my job-- being a math student. Math isn't my forte which my whole class knows from me being called out by the old teacher too many times in a bullying way- which is the same reason he got fired. Just because my mom and I don't get along doesn't mean she won't work miracles to ensure I get treated properly by the school's administration, money and power is all she knows though, I wasn't even bothered that much.

Barry sits down next to me which I immediately smile about. "Hey Caitlin, good to see you in class again." he joked.

"Ha-ha Barry," I replied unenthusiastically. "But I never get in trouble like that."

"So what you're saying is it's Patty's fault?" He asked with a tone I'm not able to decipher. Meaning I have no idea what that statement meant from him.

"I'm saying that I never get in trouble and this is really new for me."

"Right, sorry."

"Don't be," I said hastily.

"So what happened? Ms. Wilson let you off the hook?"

"I wish. But she gave me detention."

His face got all droopy and he was clearly sad. For some reason, seeing that also made me pretty sad. "Detention? But- how long is..." he couldn't even finish his sentence.

"It's ok," I grabbed his hands. "Our plans are still on. Nothing has changed."

He looked down at our hands that were together and then back up at me. He smiles, and it's the most gorgeous thing I've seen...

"I suppose you still aren't going to tell me what film we'll be seeing." I want to keep the mood going.

"You're right." he answered, and I smile widely.

This isn't the end but I have school :)
