Barry's POV
I took my headphones out my ears when Mr. Bartley stood over me at my desk. I'm left wondering what happened seeing that neither Caitlin or Patty were in the room anymore. What had I missed? One second Patty and Caitlin were cool, then they were yelling and telling me to stay out of it so I put my headphones in. Now I'm looking at Mr. Bartley trying to seem innocent.
"Please take off your hat, Mr Allen..." he said. His voice was more aggravated than it's ever been before. I quickly take off my hat.
A few seconds pass when someone sits down next to me. Felicity. "What happened?" I eagerly asked her. These airpods are so loud.
"Wait, you're telling me you didn't hear any of that?" She said with wide eyes under her rectangular framed glasses. "Patty and Caitlin arguing over..." she didn't finish her sentence but instead did that thing she always does which is tilting her head, biting her tongue, and looking away. And then Oliver Queen came to my table.
"Oh, so are we just switching up seats this class?" Mr Bartley called out. I looked to the front with wider eyes.
"Our partner, Jax, isn't here so me and Oliver decided to sit with Barry since he doesn't have his partners either." Felicity said. She always thinks quick on her feet. Or she was telling the truth. Either way Mr. Bartley still sighed and went back to the whiteboard.
"Hey Barry, I'm Oliver." Oliver said and waved with a smile. Oliver Queen talking to me next?! He's also never talked to me before, which now I realize is a little strange. Felicity and I are friends but me and her boyfriend have never talked to one another.
"Oh, I know who you are, Oliver. Number 13 on the baseball team. Crazy strikes. I would've joined the team if I didn't think your skills would automatically make me look bad." I said laughing, but truthfully.
"Oh, don't be like that. We need more players anyways what with every guy going cukoo for the football team ever since they heard about Ronnie's scholarship. Tryouts are tomorrow afterschool and then practice is every Monday and Wednesday."
I don't remember Oliver Queen being this nice. What I didn't mention was that last year, sophomore year, Oliver Queen was a certified jerk. Dating Felicity must have changed that about him. New Oliver is actually nice and I don't feel irrelevant around him like I used to.
"Yeah, I would definitely go for the baseball team. I'm not the fastest runner but my swing I'm told is nice." Oliver just kept nodding along.
After an hour and a few more conversations science class ended. No progress made in my project since neither Caitlin or Patty are here. I still don't know where they went. Felicity deceived what happened as "the weirdest and most business-minding cat fight ever' so judging by that they probably are in the principal's office.
A new phone contact is displayed in my contacts though and it reads Oliver. I wonder, if this date with Caitlin goes well maybe her, Oliver and Felicity and me could go on a double date. But I don't want to jinx anything.
Felicity came over to where I am over by the door of the classroom. "Me and Oliver have math class next." Which I don't share with them. "But I'm so happy you two got along! But call me after school Barry and I'll see if I can come to lunch today." Felicity barely goes to lunch because of... well, an incident. Felicity is a great person but her record doesn't really convey that. Last year her and her ex-boyfriend Cooper broke into the computer room and hacked the entire Central City's schooling computer database— or so the rumors tell. I've never asked her about it, she never talks about it. Honestly I thought he was always a bad influence... anyway, now she has this sort of therapist Parole Officer that talks and checks in with her during school.
