Barry's POV
"Hey, I'm really sorry I had to bail yesterday. I hope I didn't leave you hanging too much." Patty chuckled. It was Tuesday and Patty had just walked up to me. I'd been in school for about 10 minutes, and she just got here.
I smiled as I leaned against my locker. "Nah, it's no big deal. Cait and I already came up with an idea and did a bit of research." I smiled and slung my bag over one shoulder.
"Cait?" She asked, at the realization of the nickname.
"Yeah, Caitlin. The idea is molecular speed." I said, already excited to share it with her and using my hands to convey the meaning behind my words. "You are speeding up atoms- m-molecules in ways like never before. They're going so fast that weight is actually being taken off from your being! You'd become so light without changing your physic structure at all!" I began to stutter over my words because of my vivid excitement, "it's like-like free-falling but horizontally! And going backwards." Gosh, I wish I had a whiteboard to explain this.
Patty just looked at me confused, with wide eyes, but she hadn't even gotten to the good part yet!
"But that's not all, Patty! It's getting your atoms so fast that they become like air, allowing you to pass through solid objects! If your atoms move fast enough they'll become like the air we breathe!" My eyes widened again as I explained the impossible subject.
Patty was quiet for a bit. "Okay." She said.
'Okay'? 'Okay'!! That's all she could say.
I guess she just didn't share the same enthusiasm with the subject as I did. As Caitlin and I do.
"Okay... so are you excited about the project?"
"Well science of course isn't really my thing. And I didn't know it was Caitlin's either, but it sounds really cool." She shrugged.
Her response caught me off guard and still has a sad affect on me. "Well yeah, it's more than cool. It's so fascinating and out of this world. But I believe it's possible." When I kept speaking I could feel myself getting more and more excited. I really need to calm down before I get let down again.
Thankfully the bell rang, cutting off any other chance I had of explaining a topic Patty clearly had no interest in. I was kind of sad that she wouldn't have fun with the project, or a say in it. Maybe Caitlin and I could do the work by ourselves and Patty wouldn't have to worry about it.
I was walking with Patty to calculus. I saw a new sign on Mr. Bartley's classroom door while walking past it.
I sigh while reading the words. 'NO HATS IN CLASS. IF YOU CAN'T ACCEPT, I'LL KICK OUT YOUR A**'. Wow. He really hates me and my hats.
I hear patty laugh beside me. I smiled at her. "Yeah, I don't think Mr. B likes you."
I chuckle. "You think?" I said. And continued our journey to math class
Patty POV
What? Do I have a crush on Barry? No, he's just my friend. I think he likes me though. We almost kissed one time, but I'm so glad I got a phone call or else I would've done something I know I would regret. I mean, he's adorable. But he's not like Ronnie Raymond— Caitlin Snow's ex-boyfriend.
