Thunderkit yawned and opened her eyes. She started to look around the nursery see her brothers and sister snuggled up to their mother, Mapleshade. Birchface poked his head in and motion Thunderkit to come, seeing as she was awake. Careful not to wake her brothers, she went over to her father and exited the nursery.
"You ready for some battle training?" Birchface asked her.
"Yeah, thanks for training me, Birchface" Thunderkit said happily.
Oakstar came out of his den and padded of to meet them.
"On you way to train Thunderkit I see." Oakstar meowed to his son.
"Yup, just because she is going to be a Medicine Cat doesn't mean she should get some battle training." Birchface told him.
"Very true, and with the ever rising threat of RiverClan, I can only hope that ThunderClan's future Medicine Cat can defend herself."
"Are you suggesting I wouldn't teach her basic battle moves?" Ravenwing said, his head popped out of his den. He went over to meet with them.
"No, No, Not at all. We are only trying to keep her safe. I think that when a medicine cat sees a good apprentice the kit should go through a small apprenticeship of a warrior so they can have the skills of a warrior to defend against animals like badgers or foxes." Oakstar explained.
"So then how is her training going?" Ravenwing asked.
"It is going well this is her last training session of warrior training." Oakstar said.
"Oh that is right little Thunderkit and her brothers and sister are almost six moons old now!" Ravenwing said, sounding surprised.
"Yup, you better take good care of her, Ravenwing!" Birchface said to him.
After the training session Thunderkit was told that her assessment will be at dawn the next day, when she will become six moons old. The next day she was told to catch a vole and a squirrel. After that she will pair up against Flowerpaw, to see if she would be able to defend herself. As soon as her father finished explaining she was off. Using her senses she smelled the sweet scent of squirrel. Slowly she crawled close to the ground, her paws touching the ground lightly. She was careful to avoid sticks. When she was close enough she pounce and landed on the squirrel, as it squeaked loudly in distress she quickly nipped its neck, ending its life. She gave thanks to StarClan for the squirrel. She buried the squirrel to come back for it later.
Finally she had caught a vole and was on her way to collect her squirrel. When she go to the spot she unburied the squirrel. She took a look at the sky, realizing she had to hurry to get to the sandy hollow. Quick as she could she pelted to the sandy hollow. He father was there, looking pleased that she had caught a very pump squirrel and vole.
"Well done, Thunderkit" Birchface said.
"Yes well done! That prey will feed the elders for sure!" Flowerpaw said, happy for Thunderkit.
"Thank you!" Thunderkit said, pleased.
"Now it is time for the last part of your assessment. You are to defend yourself against Flowerpaw, who will attack you without claws, will try to pin you down. Your job is to pin her down instead," Birchface explained "Are you ready?" He asked.
"Yes!" Both she-cats exclaimed.
"Then into positions!"
The she-cats got into position ready to attack. Both had their claws sheathed, as to not hurt each other. "Go!" Birchface yowled. Immediately Flowerpaw flew towards Thunderkit, but Thunderkit was ready. She jumped into the air in time before Flowerpaw had landed where she had been before. Moving her legs to position, she landed squarely on her back, causing her to fall. Thunderkit quickly pinned down Flowerpaw, sealing the fact she won.
"Well done you two. Thunderkit, very smart jumping in the air when Flowerpaw flew at you. She didn't expect you to land on her back, then pin her. Flowerpaw, you did well but you should know better then to just fly in to battle like that. Otherwise you two did well. Now, it is time to head to camp, it's almost time for Thunderkit's apprentice ceremony!" Birchface said, excited about his kits' apprentice ceremony. They all ran for camp, hoping to make it in time for Mapleshade to clean Thunderkit's fur before the ceremony.

Hey everyone, Siearra here, I want you guys to comment what you think of the book so far and what should happen after the ceremony. Should RiverClan try to clam the kits as their second father is Appledusk? Or should a Battle break out? Or should Thunderkit be learning her herbs when a patrol comes back, terribly injured, from a border battle by ShadowClan. Comment down below please! I want to hear what you think!
