Nightfall came to be. You sneaked out of the building you were staying in and headed out. The sky was dark—clustered with stars. It was gorgeous. Perhaps one of the most amazing things you've ever seen. The streets were lonely, it was around 11:10 pm or something. You slid your hands into your pocket and followed the path that led into the woods. Stardust was blended throughout the sky, colors consisting of pinks, purples, greens, and blues.
"I've never seen anything like it. . ." you mumbled. At the end of the path, you found a large lake. The branches from willow trees hung above it. So, you seated yourself on one of the logs. You watched the calm lake—suddenly a reflection from the other side of it caught your eye. You looked up to see. . .Keith. It looked like he had been here for a while. "Keith?" you called.
"Huh?" he looked up at you. "What are you doing out at this hour. . ." he quaked. You came over and sat beside him.
"I needed a break, you know? From everyone. . .but apparently I still can't get it."
Keith narrowed his eyes.
"But besides that," you continued. "What are you doing out here?"
Keith held his hands. "Thinking. It's not every day I get to be somewhere this peaceful. I might as well seize the opportunity."
You nodded. "Being with them can get annoying I suppose."
"Yup."
Suddenly, a chill breeze flew past you. You held onto your arms and shivered.
"Why didn't you bring a jacket?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Because—they're for the WEAK."
Keith rolled his eyes. However, you still stayed in your state of being numbed by the temperature. Keith just couldn't take it anymore. He unexpectedly took off his red jacket and placed it upon you. It felt a lot warmer and better, but you couldn't let him have the last laugh.
"Ew, why did you put this diseased rag on me?" you asked, scrunching up your face.
Keith muttered, "if you don't want it, give it back!"
Oh, the choices. Either be snarky about it and let him have it back—or be cooperative and keep it.
"Fine. . .I guess I'll keep it." You looked away to hide your blush. Keith crossed his arms. "Thanks."
Suddenly, you felt that same emotion again. Your heart skipped and the warmth from the feeling occurred. You didn't even need the jacket anymore hardly. You only stared at Keith with a fond expression—it was totally out of character for you.
Around that time, Hunk and Pidge sneaked up. They hid behind one of the bushes, spying of the two of you. Pidge even brought some binoculars.
"OMG, she's wearing his diseased rag!" Pidge squeaked, inaudible to you and Keith.
"Really?? What's happening now?" Hunk excitably stole the binoculars and looked at the scene himself.
"She's just staring at him~" Pidge giggled. Hunk was very surprised because Pidge has never giggled before.
"Come on. . .kiss her already!" Hunk squealed as he shook frantically.
Keith reluctantly faced you. You smirked and decided to tease him a bit.
"Aw, I'm starting to think you've just been pretending to not like me~"
"Eh. . .have you?"
"Oh, no. I really don't like you," you lied with a playful smile.
"I'm just trying to be somewhat nice so you shut up. But apparently, that's not working."
Pidge vocalized, "it's shameless the way they flirt with each other!" Hunk nodded.
That's when Keith said something unexpected. "Though I admit, I may have started to hate you less."
You tilted your head. "Really?"
Keith only shrugged. "You don't make me want to slam my arm in a car door as much as you used to."
You laughed.
Keith looked down at the ground. She. . .does look kind of cute, I guess. Keith then sighed. You wondered what he was thinking.
Finally, he stood up. "We should get back. We don't wanna be out too late." He headed back to the town. You just sat there for a few seconds, trying to sort out your emotions. You didn't want him to leave you—you just wanted to sit there with him under the beautiful sky. . .
What kind of junk did those Olkari put on my salad? Ugh, it's messing with my head. You exited the area and headed back to the establishment.
"QUIZNAK!" Pidge slammed her fist against a tree. Hunk only shook his head. "Maybe next time. . ."
Once you got back, you headed straight to sleep. No exceptions for anything else, just for the time to rest. Your mind needed to relax.
