Chapter Twenty-Two

Chase clapped his hand to his mouth. Liam was silent.

"Liam, I'm so sorry."

"I died?"

"Chase woke me up before I could dream anymore-"

"Who's Chase?"

"He's got the seat beside me."

"Oh."

"I'm so sorry, Liam, I love you so much."

"Well I'm right scared now."

"Don't be scared, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have told you."

"No, thank you for telling me."

He didn't sound sincere. "I'm not supposed to be on my phone right now."

"Right, sorry. I'll let you go then."

"Okay."

"I'm so sorry."

"It's fine. See you in a bit."

"Bye."

He hung up first. I looked at Chase.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He said.

"I was scared. I shouldn't have told him."

"Come here." He pulled me into a hug. "Don't be frightened. There's nothing to be afraid of."

I buried my face in his chest. I didn't realize until then that he smelt really good. It was almost musty. Kind of like Axe but not gross. He kind of smelt like the Hollister cologne called Jake that I was obsessed with.

"Excuse me." A flight attendant interrupted our moment. "We're experiencing some turbulence, if you'd please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts, we'll be arriving in London shortly."

"Arriving in London shortly!" I repeated, not able to believe what I'd just heard.

Chase looked at his watch. "Yea, it's six o'clock, nearly." He said.

A smile interrupted my crying. I was excited. I had less than half an hour left until I got to see Niall.

"Thank you." The flight attendant said as we started back toward our seats.

We sat down.

"Have I really been asleep the whole time?" I asked.

"You really have." Chase smiled.

I wiped my eyes dry and smiled.

"Please don't cry anymore." He begged.

"I won't." I smiled. "I just had a bad dream, is all."

He smiled. "Good." He said.

"I'm hungry." I told him.

"I wouldn't doubt it." He laughed. "You missed all the food they offered us."

"No way!" I was disappointed.

"I got you these, though!" He handed me a bag of crisps.

"Thanks." I smiled and opened them.

They weren't terrible. They weren't delicious either. But I ate them. I was hungry, anything was good enough.

The seatbelt sign lit up. That meant we'd be landing soon. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest like a drum. My eyes doubled in size and I smiled a smile bigger than I'd ever smiled before. I tensed up in my seat and sat tall. I thought about what I'd do when I saw Niall. I pictured myself running at him full speed and him putting his hands at my hips and lifting my above his head, like in Dirty Dancing, then bringing me down into a hug. Then I saw myself running at him and as soon as I got to him, him kissing me. However I greeted him, I knew it would be special and unforgettable.
