Chapter Twenty-Four

"Ayley! Ayley, wake up!"

I was shaken to consciousness.

"Ayley, are you okay?"

I fought to open my eyes. I looked up and saw Niall.

"Niall!" I gasped.

I threw my arms around him and hugged him as tight as I could.

"I was so worried about you!" He sobbed.

He let go of me.

I looked around. "Where am I? What's going on?"

"You're in the hospital. Hey," he put his hands on either side of my face, "I love you. You scared me!"

"What happened?"

"We were walking back to the house after talking to Paul and Harry came up behind you and scared you and you fell and hit your head."

"What?"

"Are you okay?"

Just then, a doctor walked into the room."

"Good morning, Ayley, how are you feeling?"

"Confused." I almost whispered.

He chuckled.

"You're okay." He told me. "You just had a bit of a fall and hit your head."

I looked at him, absorbing his every word.

"You don't have a concussion, but you will have a bump that'll stay for a while."

I felt my head. Sure enough, there was a beautiful bump on the right side of my head, just above my ear.

"How long am I in here?" I asked.

"You can leave now if you'd like."

I looked at Niall then back at the doctor.

"Now?" I clarified.

"Would you like me to discharge you? You could stay till the end of the day if you'd like." The doctor asked.

"No, I'll go now."

"Okay." He smiled. "I'll let the nurse know."

Harry came into the room crying. He ran to my bedside and hugged me.

"Ayley, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, Haz, I'm fine."

"No, it was my fault, I didn't mean to scare you like that, I'm sorry."

I hugged him. Niall walked up to us.

"Let's go home." He smiled.

I smiled back. "Let's go home."

We got up, walked out of the room, the doctor wished me good luck with my pregnancy, and we were on our way. Harry drove us home (or to the boys' complex, rather). It was silent the whole ride. Niall and I sat in the backseat, he held my hand. I was shaking. I didn't know what to think after my dream. Niall was trying to keep me calm but that dream had me scared half to death.

When we finally arrived home, we were greeted by a parade of people, all who ran to me with tears in their eyes, smiling uncontrollably. I didn't know why they were all so happy, I mean, I'd just met all these people.

"Ayley!" Eleanor ran at me and hugged me. "Oh my God, you're okay!"

"Yes, I'm fine!" I said.

We were both crying.

She put her hands on either side of my face and looked into my wet eyes. She hugged me again.

Danielle walked up and hugged me and told me how happy she was that I was alright.

One by one, I got a hug from each person at the house. I was happy to know that I was accepted in the group, even though I barely knew them. The tears I was crying were not tears of sadness, but tears of joy. Tears of happiness and overwhelmingness and love. I loved those people. They were my family. And pregnant or not, they were what made me beautiful.
