“Get up or we’ll be late!”

Austin groaned as he rolled over to his back and rubbed his eyes, it was early—the sun wasn’t even up yet—but Austin always had to get up earlier than everyone else. The only motivation was that his best friend Mark usually woke up with him, Austin stretched as Mark threw a pair of socks at him before walking off to the bathroom.

“We have to get going in ten minutes,” Mark stated as he appeared, fully dressed and putting books away in his bag for the day.

Austin yawned before walking to the bathroom with clean clothes, the shower was nice and warm which relaxed his shoulders before walking over to the small mirror above the sinks. His blonde hair was dripping wet and sticking up at strange angles before he towel dried his hair and changed into his uniform for the day.

“Alright, let’s go shall we?” Austin yawned before they walked down the stairs and headed over to the Ravenclaw Common Room.

They approached the landing of the door to find the familiar brown curls leaning against the wall.

                “Aussie! Mark! Morning you two!”

“Morning, Em,” Austin laughed as Emily smiled at the two of them.

“Come on, I’m hungry,” Emily complained before they began the trek to the Great Hall for breakfast.

“Emily, why don’t you ever eat  breakfast with other Ravenclaws?” Mark asked innocently as a staircase shifted and they were stuck until it finished its route. Austin jabbed him in the chest and gave him a look.

“The other girls aren’t exactly…..pleasant,” Emily shrugged slightly. “But if you don’t like me being around I’ll leave.”

“You know we enjoy your company,” Mark snorted. “I was just curious, I’ve never seen you talking to them or anything. You’re basically a Gryffindor, aside from your wit—that’s Ravenclaw.”

“I’m not exactly an approachable person,” Emily muttered while shooting a glance at her brother.

“Ah….” Mark nodded as if catching onto her tone, “everyone afraid of your big bad prefect of a brother?”

Austin made a sighing noise as they descended the stairs to the Great Hall, not many people were up yet so the tables only seated a few early birds at the moment.

“Make sure you eat, you have double potions today and if your blood sugar drops again and you pass out father won’t be too thrilled, and you know how mum worries,”  Austin muttered as he placed sausage and eggs along with a big glass of pumpkin juice in front of his little sister.

“Oh, daddy won’t get mad at me,” Emily shot him a smile.

Austin snorted, “daddy told you to keep your grades up and that includes not passing out in your classes,” he smiled slightly as he took a bit of toast. “Plus, mum and dad have been extremely stressed with work and Scorpius causing trouble at home.
