I'm so sorry that this is taking so long to upload...wanna know a secret? I already had my mother stories written out, I just add and edit as I upload. But for this story I'm going with the flow and it's sort of hard. I don't expect this story to be rather long, maybe twenty chapters? But I can already see the ending...weird how that works out huh?

enough rambling! I really hope you enjoy, and please comment and vote...i'd love that!!

Katelyn walked through the halls Monday after the quidditch game, glaring at groups of second years as she made her way to the library. She needed to find out what spell Austin had used to make her zip her mouth, Katelyn was terrified of what he was going to do to Emily-she was already acting differently.

Katelyn walked around the library, seeing if there was anything she could use, "counter spells..." she muttered as her hand grazed a particular leather bound book. Picking it up she flipped through the pages, hoping to find something that involved whatever she needed to get this dumb hex off of her.

"Katelyn?"

She looked up and saw Emily walking down the aisle towards her, "hey Em."

"Is it hot in here?" Emily asked, she was waving her hand in front of her face as she huffed slightly.

"It's actually cold..." Katelyn muttered.

"Oh, must just be the robes making me hot," Emily smiled.

"You feel alright?" Katelyn asked cautiously.

"Yeah, I just have a migraine is all," Emily shrugged. Katelyn walked forward and placed a hand on her forehead, the small girl was burning up.

"Emmie, I think we need to take you to the hospital wing."

"I'm fine, Katie! Honestly," Emily took a step away.

Katelyn raised her eyebrows at her, "you're burning up. Come on, we're going."

"I'm perfectly fine! I just need to sleep...I haven't been sleeping," Emily averted her gaze to the ground.

Katelyn studied her friend for a minute and nodded once, "alright. The second I think you need to go, we're going. Understand?"

"Yes, captain!" Emily grinned. Katelyn snorted slightly, Emily taking a seat at a nearby table. "What're you doing in here anyway?"

"Well, I was walking to dinner with Rory, and I saw James and Albus walking ahead of us...so I sort of ditched Rory with them," Emily gave me a sly smile.

"He's going to murder you."

"Only if he catches me first."

Katelyn shook her head, flipping pages until she found something that caught her eye, a spell that reversed the silencing charm. Maybe that was what she needed, she muttered the counter curse on herself, she didn't feel different but maybe she would be able to talk to Emily about it.

"Austin still won't talk to me," Emily muttered darkly.

"He cares about you and he's worried, for good reasons," Katelyn tried to explain yet again.

"I know! But it's my life...and he doesn't always have to watch over me."

"From what I remember...yes he does," Katelyn countered, Emily's cheeks grew red as the silence dragged. Katelyn remembered last year, hearing all of the rumors of Emily being pushed down the stairs or things falling on her head, Austin had a right to watch over her.

"Well, I don't care."

Katelyn leaned back, giving a big sigh before placing a her head in one of her hands and leaning against the desk. She didn't want to get sucked into this, it was bad enough she knew what Austin intended to do! Was him not speaking to her part of that or was it completely unrelated? Katelyn didn't know and she wasn't going to be sucked in, she would rather stay far away, but she was Emily's friend...friends were meant to protect each other, weren't they?
