Chapter 2

Lauren's pov

We'd just come out of referral and going to RE.

"My mums gonna kill me" jess said to me laughing

"No she won't!" I said laughing with her

"Yes she will, this is the 4th time this week. And were only on Wednesday"

"Well if she kills you, she kills me too!" I said laughing. When we got to RE we went and sat in our spaces, there were 2 teachers in here, my music teacher and my English teacher. I wondered what they were doing in here then it clicked, Mrs Mcdonald was being assessed. She hates me and Jess because were apparently naughty? I disagree. Infact most teachers hate us because of that reason. Except for our music and English teacher, they're nice. I was sat on the other side of the class from Jess and we were both on our own which sucked.

"So class, today were going to be talking about Death and what it means" Mrs Mcdonald said. I felt everyone eyes on me as she said the word death, everyone knows about my mum, but only Jess knows what's going on with her. I just looked down.

Jess' pov

What was miss doing? She knows about Lauren's situation but yet she still has the guys to bring it up?

"Are you okay?" I mouth to Lauren as she looked up, I could see the sadness in her eyes. She just nodded unsure.

"Whys she doing this?" Hannah, who was sat next to me asked.

"I honestly don't know" I said. I watched as Lauren put her hand up.

"Miss can I go the toilet please?" She asked.

"No, you know the rules, you go at break!"

"But I didn't need it at break" Lauren spat back

"No! And that's final!" She said. I could tell Lauren was going to break any moment now. "Now what does death mean? It means that there's no life left. Molly, how would you feel if One of your parents died. Just like that"

"We need a distraction" Hannah whispered

"Oh my god, she's crying" I said in worry. Everyone saw it. Molly shrugged her shoulders as she noticed Lauren.

"Oh my God! There's a mouse!" Hannah shouted, everyone caught on straight away and played along. I went over to Lauren.

Lauren's pov

By this point I had millions of tears slowly falling down my cheeks. I saw Jess come over to me

"Lauren are you okay?"

"Yeah I'll be fine, I was just overthinking"

"Will you though? You need to talk to someone, someone other than me. Tell my mum what's going on, she'll understand"

"No, please Jess, don't tell anyone, especially not your mum"

"Why?" She asked concerned.

"Because if your mum gets involved then social services will, and they'll put me into care until my mum gets better, if she does get better"

"But you can't keep going to the hospital every day and staying there all night, it's not healthy" she said. "Listen Miss Linley (music teacher) is coming over now"

"Please don't say anything?"

"Okay?"

"Promise"

"Lauren, you know I can't promise you that, I won't tell anyone until I think something needs to be said okay?" She said, I nodded.

"Lauren, can you come outside please?" Miss Linley said, I hinted for jess to come aswel. We both picked up our bags and were lead outside by Miss. "What's wrong Lauren?"

"Nothing, I was just over thinking" I said breaking down again.

"About your mum?" She asked. I couldn't answer so Jess nodded her head for me. "What's happening lovely?" I covered my face with my hands and cried into them.

Jess' pov

Lauren broke down next to me, I felt so sorry for her.

"Do you know what's happening?" Miss asked me

"No miss" I said shaking my head, it was partly true, I knew about her mum but I didn't know what was wrong with her or how she is.

"Lauren hunny, nobody can help if you don't tell us"

"My mums dying" Lauren said through tears. My heart sunk and my stomach flipped. I knew she was sick but I didn't realise she was that sick. Miss Fitz (English teacher) came out soon after and asked whats happening, I explained to her and she gave Lauren a sympathetic look.

Jess' pov.

Once Hannah shouted that there was a mouse mrs McDonald stood up on her chair and started screaming I took the chance to get Lauren out of the class room this was just to much for her I'm going to have to tell my mum.

"Come on Lauren" I said taking her hand and pulling her out the class room.

We walked into the bathroom and as soon as we got in there she just fell apart. I felt so sorry for her.

"Lauren hunny come here" I said as she out her head on my chest as I wrapped my arms around her.

"It's going to be okay. Just calm down babe you are going to be sick" I said rubbing her back.

"I j-just -don't know w-whaaat to dooo anymore" she said trying to calm herself down.

"Well you are doing to mine tonight and we are going to talk to my mum and bout this because I can't let you go through something like this on your own it's hard enough for me to just sit there knowing that I can't do anything to help you" I said "you are like my little sister and I can't do anything to help you do you know how much that hurts me to see you like this?" I said.

"I will try but what will your mum say what will she do?" Lauren asked.

"We will just have to hope for the best" I said as the school bell rang telling us it was the end of the day. We picked up our bags and left the stupid school. We walked for about another half an hour as we made it to mine.

"MUM IM HOME!!!" I shouted "DID YOU MISS ME!" I shouted again as Lauren laughed.

"HI HUNNY I WILL BE DOWN IN ONE MINUET!" She shouted "IS LAUREN WITH YOU?" She shouted again.

"YEAH SHE IS" I shouted up the stairs. Lauren had gotten fed up by this point and sat down in the living room.

"OKAY TELL HER THAT I NEED TO SPEAK TO HER!!"

"OKAY MUM!" And that is the usual way I speak to my mum when I come home From school because being the lazy ass girl I am and can't be bothered to walk up the stairs I just find it easy to shout.

"My mum said she wants to speak to you later."

"What about" she asked as I sat down beside her.

"I don't know" I said turning on the TV.

Lauren's pov.

"Lauren can I talk to you for a minuet?" Nicole asked me. I nodded my head and got up to go and talk to her.

"What's up?" I said.

"Jess told me about your mum and I was thinking that maybe for the time being you could live with us?"
