Layla's P.O.V:

After school was over, I was going to start my walk back home, when a black Mercedes came up in front of me, the window rolled down to reveal none other than Ashley sitting behind the wheel.

She asked me if I wanted a ride home. I politly denied saying I liked to walk. But the real reason was that I didn't want her to see my house. Plus I had to pick up Ricky at his school.

I arrived at Ricky's school after 10 minutes of walking, and saw him standing with his best freind Nate.

When he saw me he ran and wraped his small 7 year old body around me.

"Hey little man, how was school? Did anyone hurt you?" I asked hoisting him up on my hip.

"Well first it was fine, but then a groupe of 3rd graders came and started saying I was ugly and that I had no mom and dad. Mommy, i know I don't have parents, but they keep repeating it, and it makes me cry." Since the day I found him he calls me mommy, and I let him because he's cute like that.

"It's okay buddy, just ignore them, they're just jealous of you. And stop crying, you're a big boy now, don't let anyone make you cry." He nodded and wiped out his tears.

I put him down so he could say bye to his friend. Then he came back and held my hand and we started walkimg home.

Our house was not exactly a house, it was kind of a small wodden cabin, with a bathroom, two bunk beds, and a table.

I opened the door to see Cassie sitting on one of the four chairs, waiting for us.

"Cassie!" Ricky ran to her and sat on her lap.

"Hey Rick, how was school." She said with her soft voice.

Cassie was a very beautiful 17 year old girl, with jet black hair and blue, green eyes. She was taller than me, and she had curves in the right places.

Ricky was talking her ears off about school, so I dicided to help her.

"Cassie, where's Mark?" She looked at me with a grateful look and responded.

"He's out getting food. How was school?" She asked me this time.

I didn't respond, instead I went to my bed after putting my bag on the floor next to the door and layed on the bed with a sigh.

"Was it that bad? Come on Lay, talk to me." She came and sat on the foot of my bed.

The whole time Ricky was watching us with curious eyes.

"Every day is the same Cassie, haven't you got bored of the story? Because I sure did." She looked at me with so much love and hugged me as I layed my head on her shoulder.

Cassie was like my older sister, but we weren't related by blood. If you haven't noticed yet, I don't have any fmilly. I'm just an orphan like the other three that live with me. Each one of us had a diffrent story, each had a past that we kept locked away from the world.

We were like our own familly, we trusted no one but each other.

It was the four of us against the world. And we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

"Cassie, can I ask you a question? Why don't you just let me drop out of school? You don't go, why do I have? Plus we could use that money for more important stuff." You might be thinking where we get the money from. Well Cassie works two jobs and has never went to school. Same as Mark. Just to insure that me and Ricky get a good education.

"You're education is important youngue lady, you need it more than us beacause you're really intelligent for your age. And how many times have I told you not to talk about money?" She scolded me. I hate when she actes like a mother beacause she was just a year older than me.

I layed back down on the bed. "Whatever." I huffed and stayed silent until Mark came back with the food.

Mark was 16 like me, he was an average teenage boy, who liked to goof around and make us laugh with his jockes.

We ate the food he brought while Listening to Ricky talking and Mark making jokes and all of us laughing together. This was the best time of the day.

When we finished eating, I decided to go for a walk and maybe go to my second favorite place.

"Guys, I'm goimg out." I called out.

"Not before you finish your homework Layla. How many times should I repeat that?" Cassie told me sternly.

"Don't have any. Bye bye."

"Lay wait." Mark yelled after me, beacase I was already out the door.

"Yes?" I asked, turning around.

"Do you want me to go with you?" He questioned, coming in front of me.

"You don't have to. I'd like to be alone." He nodded and went back in.

As I walked, I couldn't think about anything but her.

Ashley, the girl who was brave enough to talk to me, and defend me. She was really..... Something else.
