Y/N's POV You were sitting on the bed with your boyfriend, Ethan watching fan edits on Instagram and replying to some when suddenly you got a call from your mom. "Hello?". "Y/N", your mom sounded like she was crying. "Mom, what's wrong?? Are you okay??", you said concerned. "Your brother Max got into a terrible car accident today and I went to the hospital to see him but he had already been pronounced dead by the time I got there". Your mom had hung up as you dropped your phone in complete shock. Ethan hadn't heard any of the conversation because he went to the bathroom to give you and your mom some privacy. You loved your brother Max so much. He was instantly your best friend when you guys were kids. Being older, he always protected you and loved spending quality time with you. You couldn't believe he was gone. "Babe, what happened?. If you don't want to tell me, it's fine but I just want to make sure your okay". He was so considerate of your feelings. "My brother Max got into a car accident and... he didn't make it E". You bawled your eyes as Ethan came up to you wrapping his arms around your body bringing you close to him. "It's gonna be okay Babe. He's in a better place now", he said as he kissed my head while rubbing my back.
4 days after Max's funeral
Ethan's POV I could tell Max's death was really taking a toll on Y/N's lifestyle. She wasn't her usual peppy self. She didn't want to go anywhere and I hadn't seen her smile in a while. She tried to put on a fake smile for me but of the 4 years I've been with her, I knew when she was faking. I decided to make Y/N her favorite breakfast, French toast with fresh fruit and a glass of orange juice to cheer her up. As I made my way to our room, I heard sniffles and saw Y/N sitting on our bed looking through a big scrapbook. "Hey Baby, I made you your favorite breakfast". "Oh thanks E", she said sadly. "What are you doing?". "Looking through my family scrapbook. In Max's will, he left me this scrapbook and a note that said, "you were my bestfriend when no one else wanted to be". So I was looking at some old pictures of us together." I saw a bunch of pictures of them together. Some on Easter, Christmas, and 4th of July. I came across one picture that stood out to me the most. "When was this?", i said as I pointed out the picture. "That was the last time I saw him and we wanted to recreate our old baby photos. This picture was always his favorite.

"I can't believe I'll never see him again E. He was everything I could ask for in a brother and some idiot took him away from me and my family". She started crying and laid in my lap. "Y/N, look at me, I cupped her face in my hands, I know Max is up there watching over you and all of your family. He doesn't want you to be sad and mope around, he wants you to live your life as if he was still here because he's always gone be right there in your heart". She grabbed my face and kissed me, smiling into the kiss. "There's that gorgeous smile". "Thanks E, I don't think I'd be able to get through this without you". "I'd do anything to keep you happy princess".
