Y/N's POV
It was the last volleyball game before one of us went to the championship tournament. The game was coming down to the last couple seconds and my team and the rivals were tied so it all came down to the last hit. The other team served the ball and it was coming towards me but I was so distracted and I let the pressure get to me and it was too late. The ball had hit the floor and the other team was going to the championship tournament. All my teammates sent me a glare as we were walking to the locker room. "How did you manage to make us lose another game Y/N?", Gia, one of the all star players asked. "I'm sorry. I wanted us to go to the championship tournament as much as everyone else but I just let the pressure get to me. "Well maybe next time, you should get your head in the game and out of your ass". She left and I was the only one left in the locker room. As I packed up my gym bag, I started to cry because I felt like I let my team down, my hometown, and worse, my boyfriend Grayson who was in the audience watching the whole thing. He had a meeting that he had to go today but he called in sick so he could come to my game.Gray's POV
I was really sad that Y/N's team didn't win but she played a really good game. I was waiting outside of the stadium with a bouquet of flowers for Y/N when I saw her come out but I knew something was wrong. She threw her bag on the ground and ran towards me to give me a hug. As I was hugging her, I heard sobs coming from her. "Hey, hey Babe what's wrong?". "Grayson, I let down my entire team. They were all so mad at me and it's all my fault that we didn't win the game and I feel like I let everyone down". She continued to cry into my chest. I hated seeing her like this. "Hey, it's okay baby. We can talk more about it at Pop's, okay?". She nodded and i took her bag and put it on my shoulder and carried her bridal style to the car. Pop's is the diner that me and Y/N first met at. It's where we go to unwind or if we get into a fight, one of us will go there to cool off. As we were driving to Pop's, i looked over at Y/N and saw her staring out the window. I could tell she was still really upset about the whole game situation. I put my hand on her thigh as she put her hand on top of mine. "I love you Y/N. Even if you didn't win the game, you're still my number one player". "Love you too Gray. I just feel like after that game, I disappointed everyone who was cheering our team on." I could tell she didn't wanna talk anymore so I kissed her hand and continued to drive to Pop's.*At Pop's
Still Gray's POV
Me and Y/N walked in and sat in our usual booth. Since we had been coming to this diner basically our whole lives, we knew the owner, Pops, really well. "Well, how are my two favorite customers?". "Um, we're doing okay. We just got back from one of Y/N's volleyball games and unfortunately, her team lost and she thinks it's her fault. So I brought her here to cheer her up". "Oh, well cheer up buttercup. I'm gonna get you guys your usual". "Two nacho platters and two large birthday cake milkshakes?". "You know it". Pops walked back to the kitchen and I looked back at Y/N who was playing with her fingers. A thing she does when she's nervous or is upset about something. "You okay babygirl?". "No, I'm still thinking about the game. Grayson, you don't understand how much this game meant to our team. I could see the disappointment in their eyes when we lost Gray. I'm done playing volleyball". I reached over the table and grabbed her hands. "Babe, you can't give up your love of volleyball just cause of one little slip up. You are the most hardworking, determined player on that team. You may not always win, but like I said before, you'll always be my all star player". I kissed her hands as she giggled. Seeing her smile for the first time that night made me feel so warm inside. I'm lucky to call her mine.
