Heyo Sinners! I'm rewriting A New Life. After looking through the other book I realized that it wasn't what I wanted it to be. So, I will be rewriting it into something that will be much better than the original book! Things will be changing, but overall they will change to make more sense in the story, and by some changes, I mean major changes, so this will not have the same plot as the old book for those of you who have already read it!

I hope you enjoy Oncoming Storm! Now, onto the story!

Also, Happy late Easter!

Five figures ran through a forest bloodied and running on adrenaline as the rain heavily pelted their shin, the drops making their way through the leafy trees overhead. The sun had set not too long ago cloaking them in darkness, the only light coming from the flashing lightning that lit up the terrified expressions each of the five figures held.

"Hurry up you bastards! They're getting away!" A gruff voice shouted from behind the group of five. The sword in his hand had lightning hopping around the blade, providing light in the otherwise pitch dark forest.

One of the figures, a girl with long ginger hair and fox ears glanced behind her to see a hoard of men and woman chasing them relentlessly. Gritting her teeth, she slid to a stop and spun on her heel, facing the hoard of pursuing wizards.

"Melody! What are you doing?" A shorter girl with bobbed brown hair asked fearfully.

"Buying us some time, keep running April! Don't worry, I'll catch up to you guys!" The girl, Melody, shouted, kneeling down with a wince as a wound on her knee made contact with the muddied ground. Ignoring the blazing pain she started to write in the mud with her finger.

April hesitated before pursing her lips and turning around and catching up with the other three as they made their way through the forest.

Just as the hoard caught up with Melody, the letters she wrote onto the ground started to glow a dark purple, a barrier rising up from them and stopping the pursing party in their tracks.

"You think a simple barrier will stop us?" The man from before, the leader of the hoard, asked as he brought his sword up and hit the barrier, a few cracks appearing where he hit it.

"No. But it'll keep you back for a bit." Melody responded as she stood back up and whirled around, pressing her feet hard into the ground as she forced herself to run faster as she followed the distant, rushed, footsteps of the group. It wasn't long before Melody met up with the others, who were now seeking shelter from the downpour of rain in a small cave in the side of a cliff to tend to their wounds as much as they could with the limited supplies they had.

"Everyone here?" A tall boy with a mess of dark brown hair asked as he looked over the group that was sitting in the cave. Once making sure that all five of them were there, he let out a quiet sigh of relief.

"We did it." A girl with black hair said, running her hand through her hair. "We actually escaped that hell hole of a dark guild."

"Melody, thanks for that barrier. If not for it—" The boy started.

Melody waved her hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah. I know, I'm great. No need to say it out loud, Finny. But, we can't celebrate just yet. I didn't have a lot of time to make it so they'll be able to break through or find their way around it soon  enough. Not to mention that they'll be able to follow our magic signatures here."

A blonde haired girl looked at Melody as she fidgeted with the hem of shirt which in reality was more of a glorified rag than an actual shirt. "So, we'll need to start running again." She said.
