Oncoming Storm (Fairy Tail)

Chapter 6

The next morning Kayla found herself waking up at the crack of dawn with the others. She had put her armor back on and headed down to the lobby with Evergreen to meet up with the others. Luckily, because of how she grew up and the way she lived back in the Dark Guild, waking up at the crack of dawn was a normality for her.

"Alright. Since everyone's here, let's start planning." Laxus said, looking around at the group that was sitting around the table. "The Dark Guild is just a few miles away from this town, so, once we get there we storm in and pummel them all to the ground."

"Sounds like a good plan to me!" Bickslow exclaimed, the little totem dolls behind him repeating 'Good plan' a few times.

"If I may-" Kayla started, only to be silenced by Laxus.

"You're the newbie here. I'm the leader, what I say goes." He said simple before he stood up. "Got that?"

"Yes sir." Kayla muttered. Even though she knew that her idea was worth mentiong, growing up in a guild were she had to answer to multiple higher ups that didn't allow her to have an opinion made her decide to just follow along with Laxus' plan instead of speaking up for herself, it was easier that way.

"If there are no more objections then let's head off. I want to finish this mission before night fall."

Kayla looked up at him in slight shock, "Isn't this an S-class mission though?" She asked, "Shouldn't it take longer than just a day?"

Freed looked at her and then at Laxus, a small smile appearing on his face. "With Laxus leading us, even the most difficult jobs become easy. He truly is the most powerful wizard in Fairy Tail."

Kayla looked from Freed to Laxus before shrugging to herself and continuing to walk with the group in silence, until a large building rose over the distance and slowly got closer as the group walked towards it.

"Everyone ready?" Laxus asked once they were only a few feet from the entrance.

They all just nodded, and Kayla took a deep breath, her hands sparking with nerves as she looked at the door. She jumped as Laxus was suddenly surrounded in lightning looking to be lightning himself as he shot towards the door, and as Kayla was marveling his speed, the others ran after him, all of them ready to fight. Realizing she was being left behind, Kayla jumped and sprung to action behind them.

Once she got into the building, she noticed that the fighting had already started. Laxus was shocking and punching people left and right plowing through the waves of Dark wizards. Freed had trapped multiple groups of wizards in barriers while Bickslow used his totems to shoot beams at the trapped wizards. Looking at Evergreen, Kayla watched as she shot bullets and beams of golden dust particles at the Dark Guild wizards.

Kayla was never really one to fight hand to hand unless she was forced to use her Dragon slayer magic, or she was against a small amount of enemies. Normally her training was focused on assassination methods, where she struck from a hidden spot. To her, a whole guild like this, even when there were others fightning, was slightly overwhelming for her in both the terms of her enhanced senses and to just even think of going against in actual combat. Looking around the building, Kayla found some beams overhead that looked to have some space between them and the ceiling. Making a quick plan in her head, Kayla jumped up into the air, using her lightning to help boost her up a bit so she could reach the beams overhead. Grabbing onto one, she used her momentum to flip over and land on top of it. Crouching down, she perched and looked at the ongoing battle underneath her.

She reached her out her hand she pointed her finger towards a wizard that was sneaking up on Evergreen. "You're done." She said quietly to herself as she sent a small bolt of lightning speeding directly towards him. Once it hit him in the chest, he was electrified and fell to the ground.
