Awakening I try moving my right hand to feel a cold, clammy, but broad grip while my left moved freely. Opening my eyes I bore into the gaze of the hazel eyes before a startle gasp escapes my lips. Silently quieting with her paw she coaxed me into relaxing as she pried the hand gripping my own away before motioning to follow her.
Without hesitation I quietly left the bed in my dress with a matching winter coat, boots, and purse. Except the farther we walked from the hotel, the worst my hands grew cold. Levana kept checking back before entering an alleyway where other cats were gathered.
"You didn't get me out to supervise your 'feline fetishizes', did you Levana?" My voice grew deep and hiss.
"I've learned to control that way before you were in dippers, Bree." Levana snapped, "Now stay put and listen."
"Levana?" A deep voice called out.
"Oh Mick, glad to see you could bring everyone on such short notice." Levana politely and calmly spoke as she hugged the blue persian cat whom I presumed was 'Mick'.
"When we heard that Princess Edith had been reborn with 'complications' we knew we had to come right away." Mick return the same tone before addressing me, "You must be the princess we've heard so much about from Levana."
"Pleasure to meet you sir." I quietly whisper before curtsying.
"The pleasure is all mine." Mick return before looking at Levana, "We need to show her our true form, Levana."
"What makes you think she could handle that if she freaked over a talking cat?" Levana retorted.
"She hasn't tried to kick you out." Mick challenge. "What's the worse she could do?"
"She could alert humans to our whereabouts." Levana snapped.
"Do you trust us?" Mick's gaze directed to my own.
"Enough to know you're not out to kill me." I responded with a steady yet soft voice.
The bone cracks and pops screeching upon my ears as the cats began to a burning orange glow. Some of their yield were a chant almost as they took human form. Minus the fact they were more cat instead of the baby skin, wearing robes of many flourishing colors, and how many looked young or even starting families.
"You're... You're....?" I stuttered.
"Bal' Pankadashans." Mick bluntly explained. "The very race that protects the heirs of Bal'Sharian royalty. The exiled race that left with Queen Emasux with King Samikel as Reaper Zophiel laided there with only one angel wing.
Wasn't until you were barely a tike you were glowing and standing out than most children of four. Your parents grew concern as much as we were. So Levana volunteered to raise you as one of our own.
Over time we had human witches cover you in a protection cast with a tattoo we claimed as a birthmark. Eventually as you grew up you started venturing more into the human world as your parents fought to protect their little girl. That was until they died the night before you were to graduate from high school.
You were devastated until the Queen's spirit requested that we protect you until 'the one' for you was found. Over the following years you didn't age after your nineteenth birthday, always changing names and schools. Until one day you met Eligor."
"Eligor, the fallen angel knight with a sword and a lance Eligor?" I squeaked.
He nodded before continuing with his story, "You were only on earth for half a century before finding him. We tried protecting you until the night Zophiel found you after murdering Eligor. Trying to claim you as his queen of reapers. Only he's done horrible deeds to other women and created horrid reapers through them.
You wanted no part of it and hung yourself. We later learn you had a secret abortion due to being afraid to go on record. But because of it you got abused worse by Zophiel for your choice until there was nothing you could do. We came too late when we saw you in the living room."
Tears start flooding my face as I then fell to my knees before slamming them onto the ground. The blooding curling scream of agony these people have cried became my raging cry for blood. Not only did he steal my life, but these Bal' Pankadashans; Edith's parents; mostly Edith herself. All in the name to have the 'perfect' heir.
I look at Mick and stated in a lowly, blunt voice, "I will make these people pay, for their spirits have strayed from their cages too long."
