Victoria of Cambridge

June 10th, 1518

Four months have passed since my eighteenth birthday and much has changed.

Catherine has been banished from court and Henry would not allow her to see Mary.

He has signed papers to divorce her and has sent them to the Pope but Catherine will not sign them.

For me, things have been difficult. I have felt horrible for the past few days and I was currently sitting outside with a pot near me just in case.

"Vicky my love." I heard Henry say as he rushed towards me.

"Henry, you should not have come. I do not feel well." I said as he sat beside me.

"Nonsense. You are to be my wife soon." He said as he held up my left hand that held a gold ring.

"Yes but if I do not feel better," I said as I held my stomach.

Henry stared at me for a moment before smiling.

"Victoria, have you had your monthly?" He asked and I turned to face him before thinking back.

"I have to go," I whispered as I stood up and rushed back inside.

I could hear Henry running behind me but when I got to the physician's quarters I locked it behind me.

"Your Highness?" The physician asked and I sighed.

"I need you to examine me and determine if I am with a child or not," I said as I stepped closer to him.

"Of course Your Highness. Please lay down."

"And if I find out you spoke this to anyone I will have your head." I hissed as I laid down on the bed and placed my hands on my stomach.

I watched as the physician lifted my skirts up and began checking me.

"Your monthly?"

"I have not had my monthly. It is late." I whispered and the physician smiled before feeling my stomach.

"Your Highness, you are indeed with child. Congratulations." He said and I took a deep breath as I sat up.

The door opened and Henry walked in.

"Leave us." He ordered and the physician bowed his head before looking at me.

"Vicky, please my love, speak to me." He said and I felt myself crying.

"Henry, I am with child," I said and he broke out into a grin.

"That is wonderful!" He said but I shook my head.

"I am afraid," I whispered as I turned and wiped my eyes.

"Why are you afraid?" Henry asked as he knelt down in front of me

"Why are you afraid?" Henry asked as he knelt down in front of me.

"My mother suffered a miscarriage and she was not the same afterward. Catherine lost so many children." I began but Henry shook his head.

"You are not them and you are nothing like them Victoria. You are your own person." He said as he reached up and wiped my eyes.

"May I request something?" I asked and Henry chuckled.

"Of course."

"Bring Mary back to court but she will be under my supervision. She is still a princess Henry. Though her mother made mistakes, she is innocent." I said and Henry sighed.

"Mary shall come back to court. She is six and still needs her governess." Henry said as he stood up and pulled me close to him.

"We have to marry soon. Before I begin to show." I said and Henry chuckled.

"Of course my love. I shall be hearing soon from the Pope. He has heard from Catherine but I will separate England from Rome to be with you." He said and I smiled softly.

"Henry what would I do without you?" I asked as we left the physician quarters and began our walk towards his office.

"You never need to think of that my love. I am here for good." He said before the guards opened the doors and we both stepped inside.

I froze when I saw the Pope himself sitting at Henry's desk. I fell into a deep bow as Henry followed me.

"Your Eminence." Henry said and I watched as the Pope stood up and walked towards us.

"King Henry the eighth and Princess Victoria of Cambridge. Stand my girl." He said and I rose up.

"Your Eminence, it is an honor to be in your presence," I said as I kissed his ring.

"Ah, a devoted woman of faith. You have picked a wonderful one Henry." He said and Henry raised an eyebrow.

"Your Eminence?"

"I have decided to grant your divorce from Catherine of Aragon. I have reviewed all the material everyone has sent me and I have come to believe she did consummate the marriage between her and Prince Arthur." The Pope said and I turned to see Henry grinning.

"But, I will grant this one divorce. If you plan on divorcing another Queen, I will not support England and we will go to war." The Pope said but Henry shook his head.

"I will not divorce Victoria. I love her so." Henry said and The Pope nodded before turning to me.

"I have reviewed you, Victoria. I believe you will be a wonderful Queen. Please remember I am on your side if anything happens." He said and I bowed my head.

"Your Eminence, I will forever be your servant," I said and he smiled before looking at Henry.

"I must leave now. I do hope to come to England after the wedding." He said before Henry and I parted ways for the Pope to leave.

After we made sure we could not hear his footsteps anymore I threw my arms around Henry.

"We are getting married!" I said and Henry chuckled as he held me and kissed my forehead.

"Yes, we must start planning."

"I want to wear white on my wedding day. Something pure." I stated and he chuckled.

"But you are not pure." He said and I hit his arm.

"And who could not wait? I believe that was you, Henry."
