I let out a sigh as I walked to the bridge and to my station. I had joined the USS Enterprise on its five year mission a month ago and still couldn't get use to working with the man I once loved.

"Ahead warp 2 Mister Sulu." The Captain ordered.

James T Kirk, my captain and ex fiancé, it has been maybe two years since we last seen each other and seeing him here on this ship... it brings back memories that I wish I could forget.

"We will be arriving in five minutes." Sulu said calmly.

"Captain I was wondering if I could go with the-"

"No, I need you in the sick bay with Bones... in the events that someone gets hurt." He said calmly.

"But wouldn't you need a Doctor-"

"Sick bay Doctor (l/n), that is an order." He said not meeting my eyes.

"Yes Captain." I said as I turned and left the bridge.

I walked to sick bay and let out a sigh as I quickly got to work.

(Kirk's POV)

I watched (Y/n) leave and I let out a sigh. Two years ago we were engaged and two years ago she walked out of my life.

"Captain might I say that it would be good for us to have a Doctor on the planet?" Spock said questionably.

"You can say it but I'm not changing my mind. She stays on the ship, this is a war area and I don't need her getting killed." I said not looking at him.

"Captain, I understand that you and her have a past, but she still has a job." Uhura said softly.

"She stays on the ship and that is finally."

"If you are trying to get her back... you are doing a horrible job." She said as she turned away from me.

(Readers POV)

Soon the landing party went down the the planet and I stayed in sick bay with Bones.

"So what happen between you and Jim? If you don't mind me asking?" Bones said softly.

"We wanted different things." I said softly.

"You wanted to be a doctor and he wanted to go from girl to girl?"

"No..... I wanted to be a doctor and he wanted to be a captain.... and I couldn't watch him die... not like his father died."

"Well I've already seen him die... and when he came back your name was the first word on his lips and it was the last one." He said calmly.

I let out a sigh as Bones walked away, leaving me to my thoughts. Soon the landing party arrived back on the ship and Jim walked into the sick bay.

"Bones here?" He asked not meeting my eyes.

"No, he is on lunch. Do you need something Captain?" I asked softly.

"I was needing him to check a wound, I'll wait until he gets back."

"Don't be stupid I can look at it." I said as I put my supplies down and walked up to him.

He stepped back and I sent him a frown.

"I don't bite."

"Sure about that?" He asked with a smirk.

"Dick." I whispered as I forced him to sit down.

"Where is the wound?" I asked as I grabbed a bandage.

I turned to see him take his shirt back and I held my breath as I looked down his stomach. He had got more muscular since we had last seen each other, if t was possible.

"As you can see I got cut on the side of my stomach." He said as he moved his side.

"I can see. I need to put some alcohol on it... this will sting, badly." I said as I grabbed a gauze.

I heard him let out a hiss as I gently applied it to his skin.

"Sorry." I whispered.

"Don't be, I'm use to pain." He said softly.

I nodded my head and continued to wrap his waist. I finished up and turned to leave only for my hand to be grabbed. I turned to meet Jim's eyes and held a breath in.

"Why did you leave?" He asked in a whisper.

"We wanted different things." I said softly.

"That isn't it... please... I need to know. I can't keep being your captain and acting like I don't love you.... so if you can say right here that you left because you didn't love me... then I'll act like I never knew you until you came aboard this ship." He said softly.

"I can't.... I can't say that... no matter what you do.. I'll always love you, and that is my problem Jim.... I felt when you died. I don't know how I did but I did. When you took your last breath I felt my heart stop.... and it didn't start back up until your heart started again...." I said as tears streamed down my face.

"How do you know it was because of me?" He asked as he whipped my tears away.

"Because I just knew.... I just knew you were gone... and I don't think I could live if I lost you." I whispered.

He leaned forward and gently pressed his lips against mine.

"I know what you mean... that's why I force you to stay on the ship... that's why I always want you with someone." He said as he pulled away.

"I don't want you to act like you don't love me.... I.. I just want you.. I want you beside me." I whispered.

"I'm here... I'm beside you." He said as he sent me a smile.

I leaned forward and smiled as I kissed him deeply. He smiled into the kiss and wrapped his arms around me.

"Five minutes. I was only gone five minutes." A voice said angrily.

We pulled apart and I hid my face as I saw Bones at the door.

"Sorry Bones.... we where busy talking." Jim said with a smile.

"Talking? Sure, how about you go talking in your room." He said with a raised eyebrow.

"Thank for the idea." Jim said as he grabbed my hand.

He led me out of the sickbay and I held a laugh in.
