"You know the more I stare at you, the more I admire you," he brushed his fingers along my forehead brushing the stray hairs from my face as gently as he could. "The more I come to realize the truth and real beauty in the world." He had smiled sweetly to me looking from my forehead down to my eyes. He took in a deep breath and leaned down to kiss me on the forehead, both of my cheeks, my nose, my eyes and then finally my lips.
I smiled back to him shyly but happy to be in his presence. It was a stipulation I had after my attack. Trevor was the only person I wanted to see and I wouldn't and didn't want to talk to anyone in this moment. Trevor had stayed with me the entire time after the attack, reminding me of the beauty in the world. After the attack they had got me to a hospital as quickly as they could. They had no idea how bad the wound was but wanted it all to be resolved. The police was involved and our school the last time I had heard was on lockdown. We were even plagued by the evening news team once they heard there was an attack at the high school. My father was called immediately and had expunged my name from the records. Jax had still been on the run and I had only told Trevor that he was the one who attacked me.
I had to get stitches but the doctor assured me that everything was going to be okay. They had done an x ray while the knife was still in me to be sure it had missed anything major. The doctor had to be sure because he was positive that he had missed my organs. I had sustained a lot of blood loss so they had kept me hydrated and fed hooking me up to an iv, they had no need to do a transfusion.
I was out of there before I knew it. The police had come to my house later that night to take my statement and despite how difficult it was for me, I had told them everything while Trevor sat beside me holding my hand and my father behind me forcing himself to be quiet the entire time. He spoke up once I was done, screaming at the officers about what they had to do. I think he was ready to cut both me and Aimee off from boys forever. So far to him, they had done no good and had only raised our insurance. It wasn't that long ago that I had been in the hospital for being sucker punched and Aimee from being attacked as well by Sean. He had felt that he was failing as a father, as our protector. He was furious with himself upon realizing how dangerous the world truly was. I wouldn't have been surprised if he just held us hostage in the house without anyone coming in and out of it besides himself.
Still I had to tell every detail about the attack as he stood there in horror knowing he couldn't really do anything. The offices had advised him and Trevor against retaliation, told them both that they would handle it."Don't you dare hurt my sweet girl anymore than she already has been." My dad warned Trevor as they tried to talk privately in the kitchen.
Aimee was beside me rubbing my back to comfort me saying over and over that he wasn't going to get away with this. She had known him and hung out with him once before so I think it made it personal to her.
"I would never do that Mr. Meyer you have my word." Trevor nodded to him. "She means everything to me."
My dad stepped closer to him leaning down close to his face like a coach, telling him what he needed to do to be better. "You'll make sure he'll pay for this? He can't get away with hurting her." Trevor nodded attentive to everything my father had said to him. "I know these cops man, they won't do their job properly and I need you to make sure he doesn't hurt my baby anymore than he has, you understand?" He said to him nodding along with Trevor being sure he was absorbing the anger my dad was holding. Molding Trevor to be more willing to take matters into his own hands despite the instructions from the police.
"Yes sir I understand." Trevor said willful and diligent. "I know better than to let a pervert think he can get away with something like this." My dad brought his hand down on his shoulder smiling proudly down at Trevor. They held that gaze for a moment as if they were sending a message to one another telepathically. They were both on the same page.
"Good," he brought his hand down again patting Trevor on the shoulder. "I should let you get home to your folks now."
"No," I said weakly standing up and reaching in Trevor's direction. "He told me he'd stay, he has to stay." I said adamant on having him here with me. I needed him.
Trevor looked back to me and walked towards me realizing I was getting upset at the mention of him leaving. "I'm staying." He assured me frowning at the thought of otherwise. "I'm not leaving you." He grabbed my hand and my dad behind him clicked his tongue as he moved over to us.
"Emelie, I don't think that-" he began to say and my eyes looked up to him sadly, puppy dog like, and pained. He melted immediately trying to be understanding.
"He can't leave." I said sternly and as reluctant as he wanted to be, he had took a step back giving me the go ahead nod. He wasn't going to upset me anymore than I had been so he had agreed to my demands.
