Chapter Six

Zane

He runs. His attacker is getting closer. He comes across a door. He opens it, only to fall into deep blackness.....

He jerks awake and looks around the room he's in. He smells disinfectant and the scent of sickness that all hospitals seem to have. "Finally, your awake," a voice says. He doesn't recognize it. "W...who are you," he croaks out. "Dr. Alberti Burea. Your ankle was severly sprained. I'm shocked that you could actually still walk on it. Your mother and a freind helped bring you in," the voice quietly explains. "Why can't I see you?" "The lights are off. Your mother told me that you sleep better with the lights off. I'll turn them back on for you, if you would like," he offers. Zane grunts in agreement and the lights come on, revealing a very tan, tall doctor.      

         Alberti Burea is a balding man in his mid sixties, with snow white hair and light blue eyes. He has smile lines around his lips and eyes. His jawline is strong and his face indicates that he was very handsome in his youth. He walks over to Zane and tells him "When you dream, you cry out in your sleep. Why is that?" Zane shrugs and Dr. Burea looks at him like I know. Zane sighs and lays down. He then closes his eyes and starts to recount the horrible past.

"A few months ago, I was attacked by this group of people. They never knew me, at least that's what I thought. But I was wrong. They followed me all the way to my house. Suddenly, I felt this huge guy pin me down. All I remember is him sayin 'You stupid freak' then a burning pain snaking down my side. I screamed so loud when they started to beat me. They beat me so bad, I passed out. When I woke up, I had no jacket. It was freezing outside. I tried to stand, but the pain was too much. I had to rest for a little. When I did get back up, I threw up in the bushes. I then forced myself to walk back to my "mom's" house. She's my guardian when my mom is off to whatever job she has. My guardian is my aunt and she don't care about me.

      "Well, I got inside and called her, but she was to busy on her back to bother with me. So, I went into the bathroom and cleaned up my injuries," he finishes.

         Sometime during her sons recount of the past, April came in. Fury flies into her and she goes down to her car. She gets in and pays her little sister a visit. She is on a war path.
