Chapter 11

"Deliora.." the ravenette muttered.

"You sure this is the demon your master sealed away?" Natsu asked for confirmation.

"There's no doubt about it," Gray answered, albeit quiet. I stayed silent, looking at the ice.

"I wonder why it was transported all the way from the northern continent to Galuna Island.." said Happy.

Lucy looked down at Happy, "You don't think this demon could have something to do with the island's curse, do you?"

"I wouldn't be surprised if it did," Gray spoke again. "It may be enclosed in ice but that thing's still alive."

'Is that really true?' I thought.

"Sweet!" Natsu spun his right arm around as a stretch, "Give me a go at it, I ain't afraid of no stupid demon!"

"Y'know, brute force isn't the only way to solve a problem, Natsu," Lucy informed.

"You should take that advice," Ren added.

The advice got rejected. "A little fire ought'a do the trick!"

Gray, to my surprise, suddenly punched Natsu on the side of his face, successfully catching him off-guard and sending him down onto the floor.

"Gray just punched Natsu!" Happy commented, probably shocked.

"Well, this wouldn't be the first time he's done that," Lucy reasoned.

"What's the deal? What'd you hit me for, Gray?" Natsu asked, holding is left cheek. He was annoyed before he saw the look in Gray's eyes. They screamed 'back off'.

"I don't want you and your flames anywhere near it," Gray warned. "If that ice melts and Deliora is revived, there's no way we'd be able to stop it."

Natsu stood up straight, "Come on, do you really think a huge chunk of ice would be that easy to melt?"

I don't think the ice wizard thought about that. He took a moment to think before answering, "..No."

I placed my hand on his shoulder again as Lucy asked, "Gray, are you okay?"

"I'm the one who got hit for no good reason! Watch your temper, man!" Natsu exclaimed.

The cat slid next to him, "Please, you're one to talk."

"The reason was decent," my cousin added.

"Many years ago, my master, Ur, cast a spell called 'Iced Shell' on this demon, enclosing it in a form of ice that can't be melted. It's so strong that even the most powerful flame spells have no effect on it. If they knew that the ice couldn't be melted, then why did they bring it here?"

"Well, maybe they didn't know," Lucy said, I nodded at that, but not at what she said next. Not something I would say out loud, "They might've brought it here to try and melt it somehow."

"But why would they do that?" Gray snapped again.

"Um, I have no idea," Lucy raised her arms up in defense.

"...I just don't get it. Who would bring Deliora here and more importantly, why?!"

Natsu spoke after a few seconds, jabbing his thumb in the direction we came in from, "We need answers. Let's go find those guys."

"Yeah. Okay," Lucy turned to him, agreeing.

"No," Gray did not agree. "We're gonna stay here and wait."

"Wait?" I repeated.

"For what?" Happy asked.

"For the moon to come out."
