Liam's POV:

We were in the back of the lorry on the way back to the forest camp where we had found Oliver  the previous day. Alex was asleep on my lap and Oliver was reading some book across from us. "I don't remember the last time I saw her this peaceful," Oliver spoke up after I few moments of silence, not awkward silence but rather calming silence. "I can," I started. Time for a trip down memory lane, I thought. "We were in our van, the day after we had escaped Clancy's Safe Haven. Your dad actually shot me and I awoke to her asleep beside me," I finished. "My dad shot you!?" Oliver asked. "Yeah, um before we meet Alex a man attacked her in the woods, stabbed her and left her for dead. We were gathering supplies and we found Alex sitting against the tree, bleeding out. Um, then he showed up at the Safe Haven and Alex and him understandably got into a fight then, using her abilities, Alex threw up against the wall and he pulled out his gun and attempted to shot her but he missed and shot me instead," I explained. "God, I mean I knew that man had some issues but to go as far as to stab, leave for dead and then attempt to shoot his own daughter and then shoot a kid he's never meet before is just messed up," Oliver replied.

"What do you mean you 'knew he had issues'?" I asked. "When we were younger he abused our mum to the point where she committed suicide and after the IAAN virus cam about and we started to show signa of it, without asking if we even had abilities, throw us into a camp without the blink of an eye," he explained. Damn, no wonder Alex has trouble trusting people. I thought. "Yup, that guy definitely had some issues," I replied. "Well now you know why all the Burkhardt's have trouble trusting people," Oliver said and I just smiled in reply. "Hey listen, don't tell Al I told you any of this or she may kill me," he said. Why would Alex kill him for telling me? Is she that ashamed of her father? Guess I'll never know. I thought. "I can keep a secret," I replied without asking any questions.

"We're hear!" A voice yelled from up front. "Good luck waking her up," Oliver said as he put his book in his back, got up and walked over to the door. "You'll need it," he finished before exciting the lorry.
