Liam knew something wasn't right the second the first helicopter landed on the open field. At first he thought it was because Alex wasn't by his side but he knew she would be safe with her older brother so that wasn't it and then he thought it was because he couldn't keep an eye on Zu because she was hiding with the rest of the younger kids who weren't strong enough or capable enough to fight. When the first person stepped of the helicopter he realised what was wrong. The person Liam saw jumping down from the landing skids was the last person he expected to see on Clancy's side but then again he kicked himself because he should have seen this coming, he could have prevented this, he should have prevented this but he didn't and so, here he stood staring down the barrel of a gun and on the other side of that gun was the one person he thought wouldn't betray the people that he fought so hard to protect, on the other side of the gun was his "so-called best friend", Mike.
"What the hell are you doing?" Liam asked his friend as he tried to remain as calm as possible. "What does it look like I'm doing? I'm here to kill you for Clancy. He wants you out of the way," Mike explained, trying to seem as tough as possible because he knew he would have to kill his best friend and he wasn't sure how he would get over it. "Why does he want me out of the way? What am I stopping him from doing exactly?" Liam asked, as he tried his hardest to buy as much time as possible as he tried to come up with a plan. "From taking Alex. You're the only thing stopping him from doing that," Mike said with a straight, unreadable expression on his face. At that exact moment it hit Liam, he knew what he had to do. "So, are you going to pull the trigger or are we just going to stand here chatting like old ladies at tea?" Liam asked as he questioned if his friend was actually capable of pulling the trigger. "Or are you not strong enough to do it?"
Just as Liam finished his sentence something hit Mike, anger from be antagonised by his friend maybe or maybe it was the pain and anger he felt that another person though that he wasn't strong enough, that he was weak, just like his father had called him years ago. "I AM NOT WEAK. I AM STRONGER THAN YOU'LL EVER BE!" Mike yelled as he began to go red in the face "Prove it," Liam replied. Short and sweet and did the job. Got the message across. With that final remark Mike pulled the trigger which gave of an ear piercing bang which could have been heard for miles upon miles and no doubt everyone Wild Thing and soldier in that camp heard it. The only question that was left was, who was dead?
