Broken Promises

Evie has always been a little strange towards anyone that wasn't her brother but he never really understood her. During the IAAN crisis she got sick but she never died or gained any abilities like every other survivor did or so she thought. Just like Alex, Evie was one of a kind only she gained her abilities a little differently then Alex did. You see, Alex already had a power, she was an orange, when the research foundation added the rest if the colours into her system. Just like in an experiment you need to do trails. So when Senator Sallie Williams did this experiment on Alex, one of the few known oranges left in the world, she didn't know how exactly she was going to do it. So she tracked down one of the only known kids to not have the 'disease' as the government like to call it, and genetically engineered this 9 year old girl to have every colour/ability in her system. However, since her body didn't already have a colour in its system, nobody could predict what would happen and what did happen nobody predicted. So when Evie began to be able to control other kid's powers as well as having every ability in her system well they didn't really know what to do with her. So they gave her back to her brother, in the hopes that he would know what to do with her.

Evie's POV:

I'm screwed. I really am. I let them get away. He is going to kill me. He's going to send me back. The only reason he hasn't yet is because I've never fucked up this bad before but he's never gonna forgive me, at least not this time. "I'm sorry. I am so, so, so sorry. I know I promised you I wouldn't let them go. I know I promised you I wouldn't let you down. I know I broke all my promises and I know you'll never forgive me for what I've done but please, please don't send me back. Okay if you send me back she'll kill me. My powers are unpredictable, she doesn't want me, she wants someone who's powers she can control. She doesn't want a ticking time bomb. She doesn't fucking want me. She wants Alex. She can control Alex's powers because that bitch is weak. Okay but I'm stronger than her, okay and I'll prove it to you. Okay, you still need me. Okay I can be useful. Okay just please don't send me back," Evie said, tears streaming down her face as she looked at the ground, too scared to look her brother in the eye.  "Are you finished?" he asked. Evie nodded as she looked up from the spot on the ground she had been so fascinated in.  "You're right E. You did fuck up, more than I ever thought you would. But I still need you for one last job," he replied. "Anything. You know I would do anything for you. Just name it and I'll do it. You're my brother Clancy. I would literally do anything for you," Evie responded as more tears feel from her eyes. "You're going to work with Senator Williams and help her control Alex's powers. Now I know you don't wanna go back but you're not gonna be one of her lab rats this time. You're going to be on her side. You're gonna help call the shots. I promise you will be safe there this time okay. Do we have a deal?" Clancy asked. "Are you sure I won't be a lab rat this time," she asked as tears stopped falling at the thought of being needed again. "I promise," he replied.

And with that final promise Evie got in a car, headed back to the one place she never thought she would ever have to go back to and she certainly never thought she would be going there as someone who call the shots instead of someone who would end up being strapped to a bed, being poked and prodded with needles and wires. The building of the IAAN research centre. The place where it all began.
