In Too Deep

The Wild Things

Alex's POV:

"So, this is where my brother has been for the past 2 years," I said as Liam helped her down from the lorry. "I guess so," he replied. All of a sudden I was engulfed in a hug, curtesy of Zu. "HEY, I missed you so much," I said as she lifted Zu up and set her on her hip. "So, I'm guessing this is your little hideout," I said. "Yeah, after Lily was taken by the League, I started this place up to help kids with no place to go and eventually, me, Kyra and Ari planned on having an army big enough to get Lily and everyone else's loved ones, out of the League and any other kids we can break out o the way. We're called the wild things," Oliver explained. "And we're hoping now that you guys are here, that you'd join our cause and hopefully help us take down the League once and for all,"  the guy who I'm guessing is Ari chimed in. "Only if you guys want to that is," the girl who I'm guessing is Kyra added. "I'm Kyra by the way and this Ari," she finished. "I'm Alex, its nice to meet you," Kyra said. "We already know you're name but its nice to meet you to," Ari said. So not creepy, I thought myself. "That makes you guys seem like total stalkers," Oli said and he wasn't wrong, it did but I knew how he meant it. "I didn't mean it to sound like that I just meant," Ari started. "Stop talking already. Lets go get some firewood before I need to buy you a ladder so you can get yourself out of the hole you just dug for yourself," Kyra interrupted. "Yeah okay," Ari said before walking away, hanging his head in embarrassment. 

"You must be starving, lets get some food then I'll show you about in the morning," Oliver said as he put his arm over my shoulder and guided me in the direction of wonderful smelling food. I got some wonderfully warm food and sat at the same table as Chubs, Liam, Zu, Lily and Oliver. Throughout dinner Oli told us war stories which I couldn't quite decide whether they were real or if he was just lying. 

After the lovely meal, Oliver showed me to a cabin which I shared with Chubs and Zu. Kyra lent me some pyjamas and clean clothes for the morning. As soon as we went in Zu and Chubs went straight to their bunk beds and not long after they were out for the count. Liam and I had to share a double bed but I wasn't complaining because for the first time in a long time I felt safe, or the closest thing to it.
