I was in the back. I used one of the crowbars from the back and smashed the window open. She started swerving and trying to shake me off. I didn't have a steady balance. We were going down the city streets at high speeds. Passing cars left and right. The sounds of horns was all I could hear. The street lights were dim and the night was dark. The moon was the brightest thing to complement night sky on this disaster of an event. I climbed into the truck and she began to yell. "Get out out of here!" She yelled. She tried punching me while at the same time focusing on the road. She took out a spear like object from here truck. It was yellow and began to illuminate with electricity. She jabbed into my skin and I felt a strong electric charge flow through me. She then kicked me out the door. I landed on top of a car, flipping me over. I landed on the street where I thought for a split second this was the end. All of a sudden, Bang! The car was stopped by force.

I looked up and saw those people or whatever they were. I think the boy is human but I guess those gem people are aliens and again, what is up with the pumpkin? I got up in pain from the impact. My arm was broken but good thing I was still able to run. "Are you ok?" Steven asked putting away a pink shield that seemed to have vanished into thin air. I looked at him not answering his question. "Look, don't get in my way. This is my city, my people, I need to protect it. It's in the hero name." I told him and his friends. I ran off and holding my arm. I climbed up the fire escape with all the strength I had in my one arm. I got a view to see where the truck could have gone. I then heard sirens of the police.

I ran across the other building. I ran as fast as I could. I started to feel a rush got to my head all of the sudden but I ignored it. I ran and went down the next fire escape. (Look there are alot of buildings with fire escapes. I am in a certain part of the city with a lot of apartment buildings.) I saw the truck coming by. I ran in the middle of the street and jumped once it headed towards me. I got on the roof. "Get off my getaway!" Nightshadow yelled. It was harder to stay on with one good arm but I did. I was tossed and fell in the back. The money was still all kept in bags. I threw one open through the broken window. It made the money fly out in her face making her blind, not being able to see the road. She swerved and finally crashed into a fire hydrant.

I got out of the trunk and saw that she was unconscious. I saw the police lights just seconds behind. I ran in an alley and ran to the nearby park. I sat on a bench and tried to catch my breath. I looked up and saw the night sky. All the stars that glimmered. What am I doing? Why is it that it's life or death with me? If it wasn't for those Beach City people, I would have been gone. Why is it me? I have free will. Then I remembered. No family, no friends because of me. Parents gone, friends I had but don't anymore. I am alone. I looked down at the sidewalk. A tear escaped my eye. I wiped it off. It was just me, a slightly lit street lamp and my mask over my face.

Possible Trigger Warning- Maybe considered trigger but you can decide if you think so. Just one line of dialogue.

"HEY!" Someone shouted. From the sound of it, I knew who it was. "Leave me alone." I said in a deep tone. "Look, we saw that criminal be taken to jail. Who are you?" Asked Steven. "Protector." I said plainly. I was not in the mood for this. "You look a little down, what has you troubled?" Asked Lapis. I didn't answer. "Yeah, if something is troubling you Protector, we can help." Said Peridot. "Look, I just want to be alone. Don't follow me. Don't talk to me. I don't care if you saved my life. You should have let the car hit me." I said plainly. They all stared in shock. Even that pumpkin looked worried. I walked off. Hearing Steven call after me but I ignored him. Not risking that kid or his friends getting hurt because of me. I sighed and walked the whole way home. As soon as I got to my apartment, I wiped my wounds, took a shower and walked to bed. My arm was still broken so I wrapped a lot of gozz on it. The bed was conforming and so I layed there. Not having any idea about tomorrow.
