First Day of Green Bay High
She enters the school doors, not knowing where her locker is located. She stands just by the entrance inside. Waiting for her best friend Jesse to arrive. Her bag is loosely on her back and her phone in her hand.
Every other person coming into the school doesnt seem to notice her. A few catch a glimpse, but thats it. The longer Jesse takes to come to school is nerveracking to her. She keeps texting her, asking where she is at. The day before they had planned that they would meet by the doors. And yet she still hasnt heard anything from Jesse.
This was a new year, and classes didnt start until a little later. She keep looking at the people coming in, looking for a pair of eyes to look for hers too. When she meets eyes with someone. And it wasnt Jesse's.
Its belonged to a boy. Decent height, fair size. He had black hair, tanned almost white skin. His eyes were a cold brown color. His expression on his face was emotionless. He looked much older, but he looked intimidating to her. He wouldnt look away, she would glance somewhere else but she would want to know if he was still looking. And he was. Even when he was walking away. His eyes were concentrated on hers.
"Hey Century!" She peels her eyes away and focuses them on Jesse, who is now standing infront of her.
"Hey" She replies looking away and seeing if she can spot the same boy. But she couldnt. He was long gone.
"Look sorry, I was late. My mom wouldnt stop talking about how I should be careful and protect myself, and stand up for myself. And not just for me but for others too, you know the drill" She explains, Century nodding along.
The two head to the auditorium, where freshman class would be welcomed. As always, they sit in the front all the way to end farthest from the stage. As every freshman settles in, a few seniors are up on stage with the principal of the school. A few of them begin to talk when Century spots the same boy who was looking at her earlier. He stands with a gray v-neck. His arms are crossed over his chest and his hands interlocking just infront his area.
He looks through the crowd. Looking at every freshman in the seats when he comes to Century. He doesnt look away again. She's getting this feeling that he was looking through the crowd for her.
"Hey, do you see that senior looking right at you?" Jesse whispers into her ear.
"Yeah" Century gulps afraid that the senior might have noticed the affection shes having towards his intimidancy.
"Ethan?" The principal says, grabbing the boy's attention and handing him the microphone. The boy looks up, clueless when he realizes its his turn to talk.
"Oh yeah" His voice is deep, hoarse from not speaking for a while. "Uhm" He clears his throat and begins to speak through the microphone. "Im Ethan Underwood, Im a Senior in Green Bay high and Im the quarterback of the football team. Ive joined many of various clubs here, I suggest all of you join some. They'll do you good in the future, trust me. But uhm, this year Im hoping to play in state championships. I really do reccomend you do as many after school activities you can do. My message to you guys would be that life goes on, whether you choose to move on and take a chance in the unknown. Or stay behind, thinking about what couldve been done"
He gives a lazy smile and hands it to the girl beside him. Then looks back into Century's eyes.
"Do you know that guy? Why does he keep staring at you?" Jesse asks once again. "I have to admit he's not half bad. I can see you with him"
