Sapphire gapes at him. "W-what?" She asked, stuttering, she mentally blank out for a moment.
"Can you do my eye surgery?" Lucas repeated, Sapphire cannot say a single word. "I-I can't do that Lucas.." she said, Lucas let out a heavy sigh.
"Sapphire.. you learned vitrectomy." He said, sapphire slightly jaw dropped. "Lucas.."
"No." She said, made Lucas quite confused. "Why? I could pay you, i would pay you millions just please do my surgery." He said, sapphire quickly hesitate.
"No! Lucas No! I only learned it." She said, she doesn't care about the money, she doesn't care about anything about Lucas's wealth, She's afraid of what will the others will say if she fails, She's afraid that she might fail the surgery.
That she might lose him.
"Did you take a test?" Lucas asked, sapphire did take a test, she did an operation to a simulator, and surprisingly she succeeded. "Did you fail?" Lucas asked.
Sapphire refuse to answer. "Please tell me the truth sapphire, I'm begging you." He begged, sapphire can't look at him in the eyes.
"I did succeed." She said truthfully. "Then you could do mine." He said, Sapphire shakes her head, the past keep coming back to her.
"Lucas you're a real person! Not a robot! I did succeed but that doesn't mean i cant fail!" Sapphire yelled.
"What if you die?" Sapphire cooed, trying to held back some tears, Lucas was also afraid of dying, but he truly trusts sapphire so much, he is already sure about it, he already loves her.
"Sapphire please, i miss my parents so much... i need to work, i need to get back on business, my parents work hard for the company and its only their last wish on their will, it's the only thing that could make them feel happy." Lucas said, sapphire's hands were shaking.
"Lucas.. what if i fails?" She asked. "No you're not! You will not fail!" Lucas said grabbing both of her shoulders.
"And how can you say that!??!" She yelled back. "BECAUSE I TRUST YOU!" He yelled, Sapphire was speechless, she didn't know what to say.
"Please.. sapphire. I wanted to make my parents happy, i'm such a failure to them.." Lucas said, trying held back his tears, Sapphire notice it quickly.
"Lucas don't say that.. please don't you're not a failure, you are more than that." She said, wiping his tears.
"I'm just afraid Lucas, I'm afraid that i might fail the surgery." Sapphire said, running her hands through his hair.
"I'm afraid of losing you.." she muttered, but Lucas didn't quite heard, he appreciated the way she touches his hair, the way she caress it, He loves it.
"I don't care."
"I care!" Sapphire yelled. "Don't you ever think that how much aunt Gloria and the others will felt if i failed the surgery? They will hate me, They might get hurt, Really hurt." She said.
"How about me Sapphire?" Lucas asked. "Am i not feeling pain right now? Am i even happy? I feel like a desperate sh*t, Do you even know what that feels? I feel... not happy." He said.
"Lucas.." Sapphire didn't know how to comfort him anymore, she offended him.
"If you fail atleast you tried, i Don't care what but one thing you made me feel."
"You made me feel happy." Lucas added.
"Lucas are you even thinking of what this surgery will possibly could effect the others? You?" Sapphire asked, Lucas shake his head.
"I know. But what about me? Can't I deserve happiness? I don't even know what that feels anymore, do you even know how I felt every morning I would open my eyes to see nothing? That i had payed a lot for this mansion to get built right beside the ocean where i can only hear things and not see?" Lucas stated.
"I've been living, seeing darkness for then past years sapphire, but everything changes when you arrived here." He said.
"Please.. just please sapphire." He grabs her waist and pulls her into a hug.
"I trust you.. You earn this.. I need you.. So please.. please.. please heal me." He said while hugging her tightly.
"I only trust you, not anybody else. I needed you." He said.
Sapphire didn't say something, she was shock that Lucas hugged her, but she felt a sudden disappointment when he releases the hug from him.
"Its okay if you're scared, i will not force you anymore.." his expression changes turning into a gloomy person.
"But if you did the surgery on me, i just wanted to tell you.. if you fail, atleast i would die being with my parents, that would made me happy." He smiled into a sad smile.
"But if you did my surgery, if you fail I don't care, but if you succeed.. nothing more will make me even more happier." He said.
'I would be even more happier seeing you Sapphire with my own eyes.'
Lucas got up from bed, he let go of sapphire's waist, sapphire felt never even more sadder, she felt bad for him.
Many did doctors praise her about the surgery, she did become very confident when other doctors praises her, but everything was a changed, when her patient died the parents blamed her made her blame herself too, she had anxiety and strong depression, if she did his surgery what could possibly she would felt. Hurt. Broken. And will lose hope.
"Wait." Sapphire grabbed his wrist, stopping him from walking away.
"Please i'll do your surgery, in one condition."
"What?" Lucas eyes widen as he didn't actually believed that Sapphire is actually agreeing.
"Please don't die.."
