Chapter 25: Talk with the Guild Masters

"Is... this the right place?"

It's the middle of the day and I'm standing in front of what looks... Like the guild house but I'm not sure anymore. It has the emblem of the guild in front of the building, but it's huge!

The four story building that's currently still under construction looks like it's getting another floor. The frames have been set and the bricks are busy being attached by construction workers. I look around to see most of the people walking past the building unaffected by what was happening. I wonder why they are renovating?

I walk into the guild and see the interior also had an upgrade. The bar has wider variety of alcoholic beverages and instead of having the regular bar stools with a table it has comfortable couches with painted wooden tables to prevent splinters. The request board was twice it's original size and the lighting in the room was different.

There aren't a lot of people currently in the guild but I manage to see a few recognisable faces busy. I walk over to bar where I see Lucinda busy cleaning glasses.

She sees me walk over and pours a drink into a glass, setting it on the table.

Ginger flavoured water. One of my favourite drinks since I don't drink alcohol.

She gives me a smile, "Afternoon, Alsty. Aren't you supposed to be out training the newbies?"

I empty the glass with a grin on my face. "I'm here to give the guildmasters an update on their progress."

"That's great! I hope they're doing well."

"Their inexperience is still working against them but... they're getting there."

"Tell them I said 'good luck!'."

"Will do," I responded, then looked around. "What's going on with the guild? Some meeting that I missed?"

"It's... better if you ask them yourself, because I have no idea and neither does anyone else as far as I know, but-" she leaned in closer and started whispering,"-word is going around about the kitsune village over Falla Mountains. It's probably got to do with that."

"Good to know. Are they in their-"

"Must you always be such an ass!" Someone screamed from upstairs.

It was Bella Kai and the victim of her assault is definitely her husband, Kotomine.

"Have fun." She said, chuckling at my pained expression.

Even though she's 14 and I'm 19, the air of maturity around her feels much stronger then that of my own. It almost feels like she's older than me.

I wanted to continue our conversation but had to diffuse a possible war breaking out upstairs. A very one sided war.

"I'll be off then." I said walking towards the stairs.

I enter the room and see that Kotomine is in the corner of the room with a large bump on his head. Bella is seated behind the guildmaster's desk with a bitter expression.

I noticed a crystal ball on the floor with blood smeared on it. She actually threw him with that?

"I said it was just an idea...," Kotomine mumbled as he turned to look at the woman glaring daggers at him.

"Using magic to strip them all naked isn't a strategy, it's a prank. A very weak one, in fact. You want our enemies to think we're perverts or something?" Her eyebrow twitched as she said that.
