"So, what did you want to talk about?"Brendon asked skipping alongside Ryan as the the two exited the cafetaria building.
"Is this what you understand by 'private'?"Ryan snarkly answered to his question with a question.
Although there were less people outside than in the cafetaria Ryan really didn't want anyone to eavesdrop on their conversation. They could, after all, get in big trouble because Brendon somehow managed to smuggle a whiskey bottle on campus. He still doesn't understand how someone can be so careless- or stupid.
"Can you, please, stop that?"Ryan asked annoyed by Brendon's skipping.
"Sheesh, way to be a buzzkill."Brendon remarked falling in step with the other boy,"What happened, did you wake up on the wrong side if your bed this morning?"he asked trying to sound equally as annoyed, but his smile gave him away.
"If you need to know I slept just fine, despite discovering your little 'surprise' last evening."Ryan answered venomous leaving Brendon utterly confused.
The two continued in silence to the apartament; Ryan planning what he was going to do once they arrived to their destination and Brendon trying to figure out what Ryan meant by 'his little surprise'. Ryan wasn't really one who had a flair for the dramatic, but he came to the conclusion that a little drama would be requiered in this situation if he wanted to get anywhere.
He was the first to take off his shoes and walk to the kitchen from where he took out the wiskey bottle.
"Okay, so what-"Brendon froze as soon as he saw the bottle in Ryan's hand. After a few moments of his eyes darting nervously from the bottle to the boy holding it, then back to the bottle and so on and so forward, he fell to his knees.
"Please, don't tell anyone about this. I'll do anything, just please, please don't tell anyone, anyone about this. I swear, I'll even leave you alone!"he pleaded.
Ryan almost felt bad doing this, but in the same time Brendon was an actor, so using a little manipulation was fine; he was just fighting fire with fire.
"I won't tell anyone...under one condition."he said walking backwards to the sink and unscrewed the bottle,"You will never bring alcoholic drinks in our apartament ever again."he said pouring the contents of the bottle down the drain.
Brendon just watched the liquid swirl down the drain without saying anything, a pained expression painted on his face. Once the bottle was empty Ryan sat it down on the little counter space next to the sink.
"What do you think you're doing?"the boy asked when he noticed Brendon reaching out for the empty bottle.
"Taking out the trash."he replied vacantly, almost as if all his emotions got poured down the drain once with the ember liquid that was once inside the bottle.
Ryan handed Brendon the bottle reluctantly, starting to wonder if he had done the right thing. He just looked so misarable, but in the same time if they got caught having the whiskey bottle they would've been in way bigger problems than Brendon's starnge behaviour. What did Ryan care anyway; Brendon was just a guy he got stuck rooming with.
"What class do you have next?"Brendon called from the hallway.
"Uh...physics?"Ryan answered unsure.
Not a word was spoken from that moment and a soft click moments later signaled that the boy was now all by himself in the apartament.
He'd done messed up; how bad not even himself certain. He pondered calling Patrick and asking him for advice, but he swiftly shot that idea down, as the two knew eachother for about a day and he'd probably just be a bother.
Maybe he should apologise. In the same time, he had all the rights to act like he did. But he might've been a little too harsh. Yeah, but he needed Brendon to understand that he was serious. Maybe they should've just sat down and talk about it. He didn't want to seem weak, though.
Trapped in the back and forth of his own guilttripping Ryan didn't notice the time go by. Before he knew it Brendon was back to the apartament with no bottle in sight; which was an arguably good thing.
"Hey, are you alright?"the dark haired boy asked concerned putting his hand on Ryan's shoulder.
"Wha- yeah, yeah, I'm fine."he said starteled by the sudden contact,"Just spaced out and lost track of time."Ryan explained.
"Please don't tell me you have been pulling all-nighters since you got here, too."Brendon sighed,"'Cuz then I'll have to call Mama Andy on you too."he said shooting a joking warning look.
"That's oddly specific. What happened?"Ryan asked intrigued.
"Well,"Brendon said throwing himelf on the couch,"long story short, Pete hadn't slept in three day, so I called Andy who aparently kicked Patrick out for the night and had to spend the night over at Pete's, more or less forcing him to sleep."he explained rather proud of his endeavour.
"And that's what you were talking about with Joe."Ryan said putting two and two togheter. He must admit, it was pretty smart, but in the same time not the most ethically correct solution.
"Yup. He took the photo when he left for classes that morning. Thankfully for him Pete had classes an hour later than normally, so he didn't get totally murdered by an angry Pete."Brendon snickered.
"That's pretty mean, though."Ryan noted,"Both the photo thing and kicking Patrick out."he sighed.
"Yeah, but it was all planned out...mostly."Brendon defended.
"Mostly."Ryan repeated amnoyed,"What would you have done if everything hadn't gone according to your little plan? Are you seriously willing to risk your freinds relation for something as trivial as sleeping?!"he asked angrily.
"Wha- no! Of course, not, but-"Brendon stumbeled over his words. He never saw Ryan ever get this angry with him and they've known eachother for barely two days.
"No 'but's."Ryan cut him off,"There's always a fucking 'but'! If your plan was a good one there wouldn't need to be a 'but'!"Ryan yelled and stormed out of the apartament. He needed some fresh air.
