A/N: Yo, I'm back. How've y'all been?
°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°

The last month had been the longest in Brendon's life- or well, that's how it felt, at least. As it stood, him and Ryan haven't talked since their argument. Brendon hadn't anticipated it, as they do live in the same apartament and have similarily structured class scheudles, but Ryan must be some sort of escape artist because no matter how hard Brendon tried, the two weren't in the same room at the same time for more than a fraction of a second.

Outside the apartament things weren't any better either. Everybody was quiet and it felt as if they were all tip-toeing on glass. Neither Brendon nor Ryan came to lunch anymore, Ryan avoiding Brendon and Brendon just having lost his apetite all-togheter. Pete, of course, didn't let him get away that easily, often passing by his friends' room to bring Brendon food or when he couldn't, send one of the others to do it.

That particular day, however, was different. A cold had been circulating troughout the school and Pete, Andy and Ryan had fallen to it, forcing Brendon to exit the apartament and go to the cafeteria.

While he was sitting in the cue, with his last 10 dollar bill in hand, he thought about how Andy was right getting on their backs to get a job the month before. Maybe he could find something on campus...

"Sorry, can I can cut in line? My roommate is super sick and there's no one else to look after her."someone asked tapping Brendon on the shoulder.

The boy turned around slightly confused. Behind him was a black haired girl, about his age, wearing a casual outfit and holding a plastic dish in hand.

"Yeah...I'm kinda in the same situation."Brendon said chuckling awkwardly and shook the thermos he was holding.

"Oh, shit, sorry. I didn't realise."the girl apologised.

"No problem. You're in year two, right?"Brendon asked remembering about last summer when Dallon talked his ear off about his girlfriend.

"Yeah, why?"she asked confused.

"Oh, I have a friend in second year named Dallon and I think you're his girlfriend's roommate. Correct?"Brendon asked, silently cursing himself and his boldness. He should learn how to keep his mouth shut some time.

"Oh, yeah, Dyllan! Breezy texted me about him all summer. I swear if those two won't marry I'll sue."the girl chuckled.

"Marry me."Brendon said jokingly and got down on one knee,"That's the second best nickname I've ever heard."he explained getting up.

"Hmmm, might consider it, but you'll have to take me out for dinner first."the girl hummed,"Also, what's the best nickname you've heard?"she added.

"Hmmm...now that I come to think of it, I don't know."Brendon said actually thinking about what he was saying,"My top five must be C. S. Lewis, Breadbin, Tree, Bun Bun and Oreo man."he listed.

"I'm gonna guess that 'Tree' is Dallon."the girl said and Brendon hummed in agreement,"What about the rest?"she asked.

"Well, 'C. S. Lewis' would be my friend Pete- he likes writing-, my name's Brendon and hence 'Breadbin', Patrick's really old nickname is 'Bun Bun' 'cuz we all agreed his spirit animal would definately be a bunny and 'Oreo man' is Frank, whose last name is Iero and we just changed a letter; brilliant, I know."Brendon explained with a chuckle.

"Well, I'm Sarah."the girl said sticking out a hand to Brendon,"Nice to meet you, Breadbin."the girl added with a smug smile.

"The pleasure is mine, Smara."he teased, using the first nickname he could come up with.

"Touché."Sarah replied and they both burst into laughter.

"Next!"the lunchlady called.

Brendon handed her the thermos and the ten dollar bill,"Chiken soup and an apple, please."he told the lady who huffed and rolled her eyes, then snatched the thermos out of his hand.

"Sheesh, who rained on her parade."Brendon commented quietly, making Sarah snicker.

"Next!"the lady called slamming down the thermos on the counter in front of Brendon, making the boy jump in surprise.

"Two chiken soups to go."Sarah said throwing Brendon a simphathetic look as the lunchlady grumbeled something under her breath about how they weren't allowed to take food outside the cafetaria in her days and today's children were priviledged brats.

Once the two of them had their food, Brendon assumed they would just part ways. Despite this he still waited for Sarah to pay for the food and offered to help her carry the food.

"Won't your roommate get mad if you don't bring him his food?"Sarah asked, pointing out the obvious.

"Nah, I don't think so. We're not exactly on the best of terms..."Brendon trailed off awkwardly.

"That's even more of a reason to go."Sarah sighed, stopping at a table," I'm telling you, if you don't make up untill the end of the year, you're gonna end up alone."Sarah told him in a matter-of-fact manner.

"R-really?"Brendon asked, rapidly falling back into his old habit of overthinking gone south.

"Yea."Sarah replied holding a ballpoint pen cap in her teeth and scribbling something down on a paper tissue,"That's what happened to Dallon, at least."she added with a shrug when she was finished writing and put the ballpoint pen cap back on, then gave the tissue to Brendon.

The boy took it confused as to why she'd give him a tissue with a bunch of numbers scribbled messily on it. Sarah must've noticed this, so she explained it,"It's so that we can chose a date for that dinner.", winked and then left, leaving the boy behind, red as a tomato.

The interaction left Brendon torn; he'd promised himself he wouldn't jump in a relationship so soon, especially after last time, but there's no harm in going to dinner, right? Worse case scenario him and Sarah still remain friends, so it's pretty much a win-win situation.

Yeah, Brendon decided he was going to talk to Sarah and go out for dinner, but first, he had other things to do.
