All by myself

Ryan was bored.

Brendon had left a while a ago for a job interview and still hadn't came back. Ryan thought it would be nice to have the apartament all for himself for once. And it was- for the first fifteen minutes. Half hour in and Ryan was sat on the couch upside down, book long abandoned next to him and the TV turned on some random chanel.

Once he started to feel light-headed, he turned the right side up again. A wave of nausea promptly washed over him like gravity had inverted itself. And maybe it had. The world seemed to be ever-so-slightly off its axis that day. He knew better than question it, though.

Once he was steady enough to walk he wandered into the kitchen, glancing at the clock. He found himself growing rather impatient for his roommate's return. Why? He couldn't tell. It's not like they haven't been separated before- afterall, they don't have any classes togheter-, but this time something was off.

It was comedic, really. How less then a month ago he swore he hated the dark haired boy's guts and now his absence seemed to nullfy the most basic principles of physics. It was just something about Brendon's personality that seemed obnoxious at first, but as you got to know him it became rather charming.

Not that Ryan thought Brendon was charming or anything-

The boy snapped out of his thoughts, confused as to what he was doing in the kitchen. In the end he grabbed a glass of water and returned to the couch.

He hadn't realised this before, but somehow he'd managed to find the only chanel neither him nor Brendon ever watched- telemarketing. With a sigh he sat back down, browsing trough chanels untill he finally gave up. There really wasn't anything interesting on television anymore.

He finally turned off the TV and took out his phone. Surprisingly enough, he had messages.

The first ones he read were from Patrick and judging by the time stamps the blonde boy didn't get much sleep the night before. He'd sent Ryan a couple videos from Tyler's performance followed by a wall of texts. Turns out Pete had confessed his feeling and the two teenagers ended up stalling their return home for just a little longer. Andy hadn't been too keen on their late arrival, but he didn't stay mad for too long.

Ryan sent him a text back congratulating him and refrained from asking the boy to come over. He figured he was either sleeping or with Pete and didn't want to bother.

The other texts were from his mother and an unknown number, which was peculiar.

His mother texted him to see how he was doing, how he was getting along with his roommate and if he'd met any cute girls. The boy scowled at the last question. He'd only been there for a month, why did she expect him to have already gotten into a relationship? Things had been stressful enough as they were without having to worry about keeping a relationship.

The boy shook his head, answering his mother's questions with an 'ok' and informed her that he didn't have a girlfriend yet and probably won't get one any time soon either. He just wasn't interested in a relationship, really.

And the last text.

Unknown: Hey, Ryan, it's me, Brendon. Patrick gave me ur number. Anyway, 'm at the supermarket, want anything?

Five minutes ago. Was it too late to answer?

Ryan: Oh, um, some popcorn if ur still there. Sorry, was texting mom

The boy fidgeted nervously untill his phone ding-ed.

Unknown: K. It's cool, btw ;)

Unknown: Actually!! That gives me an idea

Unknown: Movie night? :D

Ryan froze. What should he say? They had school the next day, but...a movie night sounded kinda good, actually.

Ryan: Yeah, sure

Unknown: YESSSS!!!!!

Unknown: Be back in 20 ;)))

The boy laughed at the boy's reply. It was something about the double chinned winky face that cracked him up. Once he calmed down he created a new contact in his phone.

'Brendon ;)'

He set his phone down and decided to prepare for the movie night untill Brendon got home.

Ryan took back the empty glass to the kitchen and put it in the sink. While he was there he took out a few bowls, filling one with whatever snacks they had left and leaving two others empty for popcorn. He returned to the livingroom where he set them down, then went to his room.

It took a few times- going back and forth between the living room and both of the boys' rooms- but in the end Ryan managed to collect all pillows and blankets in the apartament on the couch.

Brendon actually came in just as the boy was bringing the last pillow over.

"Oh, hey, Ry-why are you holding my pillow?"he asked confused, but then smirked,"Did you miss me that much?"

"Har, har. Very funny, Brendon."he replied with a deadpan expression,"I was setting up the couch for the movie night."

The dark haired boy gasped dramatically, earning a confused and slightly annoyed look from his roommate.

"Ryan, are you making a pillow fort?!"he beamed, kicking off his shoes,"Wow, where's your whole 'I'm too mature for doing fun stuff' attitude?"Brendon laughed.

"I-I don't-I'm not-"Ryan stuttered flustered,"Go put the groceries in the kitchen."

"Yes, sir. Aye, sir."Brendon made a mock-salute with his free hand and winked before walking past his red-faced friend and dissapearing in the kitchen.

Ryan wanted to scream.

Still, there was no time for it, so instead he finished setting up the couch and stole Brendon's laptop from the boy's room, then set it on the coffee table in the living room.

"That's my laptop!"he said in an accusatory tone when he sat down on the couch, while balancing two overly-filled bowls of popcorn.

"Yeah, so?"Ryan threw himself on the couch next to his friend,"It was your idea."he shrugged, carefully taking one of the containers.

"Then I get to pick the first movie."the boy grinned.

"Fine."the other sighed defeated.

He was enjoying this a little too much.
