Alex's and my laughter rang out above the dull pounding music beneath us. "Okay, okay, okay. My turn." Worst childhood experience: Go!" I smiled.
Alex scoffed at my weak question. "The Talk. It was so awkward and I was completely confused. I didn't understand a lick of it. Especially the banana and doughnut comparison." Alex shuddered. "Traumatic."
I laughed and watched my breath condense above me in the chill night air. "Hmm..." Alex rubbed his chin in playful thought. "Oldest friend. Go."
"Diana." I stated quickly. "We've been close ever since the eighth grade."
"What about Mac?"
I shook my head. "We didn't meet her until last Summer."
Alex nodded and swished around the leftover beer from his cup, only to find there was none left.
"Damn it. Now I have to get up." He sighed, leaning his head back.
I chuckled. "Oh wow. Alexander actually having to do work?!?" I fake gasped, "How appalling!"
He laughed and punched my arm as he sat back up. "Shut up."
He stood and reached a hand out to help me to my feet. We walked over to the edge of the roof and my heart almost stopped as Alex leapt off and landed in a crouched position on the ground, perfectly unharmed.
"ALEX WHAT THE FUCK?!?" I yelled.
He simply laughed and held out his arms. "You're really dramatic, you know that?"
I huffed. "I hope you don't expect me to do that."
"It's fine Circe. Just jump. I'll catch you." He grinned up at me.
"No! What in the hell?! This isn't some X-Games shit!" I scooted away from the edge of the roof a little bit.
"Circe. Come on!"
"I'm just going to go back in through the attic door."
"It's locked from the inside. And I'm sure that our fellow students are too occupied with other things to open it for you. So again," He held out his arms, "Just jump."
I sighed. He was right. There was no ladder or person around who was going to help me down from here. Only Alex. And I didn't plan on getting stuck up here like some idiot.
I groaned and rolled my eyes. 'Now or never' I thought. Before I could change my mind, I leapt off of the roof, yelping in fear.
Warm arms caught me before I could hit the ground and I looked up at Alex angrily. "You never should have convinced me to go up there." I said.
"Well, unless you had any other bright ideas that you weren't telling me, that was our only option for privacy." Alex stated, placing me down.
"Wow. I can't even feel my legs." I said walking back towards the front door of the house.
"Well you seem to be walking just fine, so they must not feel that bad." Alex smirked.
We made our way over towards the kitchen and Alex grabbed a cup from the counter before turning to me. "Want one?"
I shook my head. "I don't drink." And I didn't. I'd never touched a drop in my life.
Alex nodded before silently sipping his beer and walking over to the fridge. I watched him as he shuffled through it and came out with a bottle of Dr. Pepper, smiling as he handed it to me already opened and bubbling. "None alcoholic, guaranteed." He smirked.
I took it with a smile and sipped it. "Thanks. I guess chivalry isn't dead, after all."
"Guess not." Alex smiled.
